II CHRONICLES CHAPTER 23

Welcome to the the beginning years of eigtht centuryB.C., the year is 788B.C., and we find the Nation of the House of Israel divided into two separate Nations: The House of Israel consisting of ten TribesReuben, Simeon, Levi, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulun, Ephraim and Manassehoccupying the Northern territories; and the House of Judah which comprises two TribesJudah and Benjaminand occupying the southern territories. At present, the House of Israel has as its king, king Jehu, and the House of Judah does not have a king at present, the Nation is about to be ruled by Athaliah. As we are reading in the The Books of the Chronicles, we are reading things in the Esoteric, meaning, we are reading things from Fathers point of view or perspective, or in other words, events viewed from the Divine standpoint, and as seen and understood by the spiritual mind, to take that further, you could say, from the moral aspect, and you could go even further and say, for those with the eyes to see. The reason Father split the Nation into two separate Nations was because of the actions of Israels third man-king, Davids son, Solomonas can be read in I Kings 11:1-11taking unto himself many foreign wives, served their false gods and idols, built altars for those false gods and idols on Fathers Holy mountain, turned his back on Father, which angered Father and caused Father to tell him that He was splitting the Nation into two separate Nations, but not until Solomon returned Home to Him and his son Rehoboam took over the reign and rule of the Nation.

II Chronicles 22 opened with the inhabitants of Jerusalem making Ahaziah, the son of Jehoram, king of the House of Judah. They did so because his father died of the disease in his bowels which he suffered with for two years because of his forsaking Father and also because of joining onto Joram of the House of Israel. Ahaziah didnt learn from his fathers mistakes and he too joined onto the house of Ahab, of course, it didnt help that his mother Athaliah, was the daughter of Ahab and Jezebel. Ahaziah also forsook Father and when Jehu was anointed and appointed by Father to destroy the house of Ahab, he found Ahaziah and slew him too, this too was of Father as we read in II Chronicles 22:7. When Ahaziahs mother Athaliah found out that her son was dead, she turned around and killed all the seed royal, meaning, she killed all her grandsons and anyone else who might have had a rightful claim on the throne. In doing this, she almost fulfilled satans plan of destroying the Promises of Father of Genesis 3:15, which reads: Genesis 3:13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. [3:14] And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: [3:15] And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her Seed; It shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise His heel.; and of II Samuel 7:16, which reads: II Samuel 7:8 Now therefore so shalt thou say unto My servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over My People, over Israel: [7:9] And I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth. [7:10] Moreover I will appoint a place for My People Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as beforetime [7:11] And as since the time that I commanded judges to be over My People Israel, and have caused thee to rest from all thine enemies. Also the LORD telleth thee that He will make thee an house. [7:12] And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. [7:13] He shall build an house for My name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever. [7:14] I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men: [7:15] But My mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee. [7:16] And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.xx but, Father isnt going to not let His Plan and His Word come to pass. He made that Promise, and like every one of His Promises, they all come to pass. In this Chapter well read what happens next.

With that introduction being said, lets go to Father and ask Him for His Blessings on our Study of His Word: Father, I come to You right now and ask that You Oh LORD Lead me and Guide me as I try and teach Your Word, dont allow me to mis-teach or mis-lead Your Children. We, Father, also come to You as a group who desire to Learn Your Word, to thank You for inviting us to Your table in order that we might be able to partake of and receive Your Spiritual Meat, and Father, as we prepare to dine on the sustenance which sustains our inner man, we ask that You Oh LORD open our ears and eyes, that we might be able to hear and see your Truths, open our hearts and minds and prepare us in order that we may receive Your Truth. We Pray for Your Understanding of Your Word, we seek Your Knowledge in Your Word, and most importantly Father, we Pray for and desire Your Wisdom from Your Word, in Jesus Precious name we Pray, thank You Father, Amen.

1A1
II Chronicles 23:1 And in the seventh year Jehoiada (YHVH-known; or, YHVH knows) (yo-yaw-dawי) strengthened himself, and took the captains of hundreds, Azariah (YAH has helped; and, whom the LORD helps) (az-ar-yawי-hoo) the son of Jeroham (compassionate; and, cherished) (yer-o-khawmי), and Ishmael (YAH will hear; and, whom YHVH hears) (yish-maw-aleי) the son of Jehohanan (YHVH-favored; or, whom YHVH gave) (yeh-ho-khaw-nawnי), and Azariah the son of Obed (serving; or, serving) (o-badeי), and Maaseiah (work of YAH; and, work of YAH) (mah-as-ay-yawי-hoo) the son of Adaiah (YAH has adorned; and, adorned by YHVH) (ad-aw-yawי-hoo), and Elishaphat (EL of judgment; and, whom EL judges) (el-ee-shaw-fawtי) the son of Zichri (memorable; and, memorable) (zik-reeי), into covenant with him.   —>   Athaliah has now been reigning and ruling the Nation of the House of Judah for six plus years, her rule has been a very tumultuous reign of terror and Jehoiada has has enough of her ungodliness. He has now decided that it is time to restore the kingdom to its rightful king, the young boy he has been hiding, guiding and raising for the past six years, Joash. He has formulated in his mind how he is going to go about accomplishing this task, and the first thing he does is gather the Captains of the military to him in Fathers House.

Again, as we are reading this in the The Books of the Chronicles, we are seeing this esoterically, meaning, we are reading it from a Spiritual point of view, or from Fathers perspective, and not exoterically, or from mans point of view. As such, we see here, that the military leaders are mentioned by name; however, the role of the Levites will be enlarged. Conversely, in the The Books of the Kings where we do read it exoterically, the Levites are recognized, but the role of the military is enlarged.

Seventh=The number seven in Biblical numerics denotes Spiritual Perfection and Completeness. It is the number or hall-mark of the Holy Spirits work. He is the Author of Fathers Word, and seven is stamped on It as the water-mark is seen in the manufacture of paper. He is the Author and Giver of life; and seven is the number which regulates every period of Incubation and Gestation, in insects, birds, animals, and man.

Once there, they all swore an oath of secrecy, and to protect their king until Jehoiada was ready to anoint and crown their king, and expel the evil, ungodly Athaliah. His son was Maaseiah, one of the Captains of hundreds who aided and assisted the High Priest Jehoiada in restoring the House of Judah to its rightful heirfrom the evil, ungodly usurper AthaliahJoash. The final part of the name is the appellative יה (Yah) = יהו (Yahu) = יו (Yu), which in turn are abbreviated forms of the Tetragrammaton יהוה, YHVH, or Yahveh. The first segment of the name Adaiah comes from the Hebrew root group עדה, which is used all over the Bible: Its by no means certain what the original designer of the name Adaiah meant to say with this name. It may mean Yahveh For Ever, or it may mean Congregation Of Yah. But most commentators prefer the meaning of ornaments or to deck oneself. New Open Bible Study Edition (NOBSE) Study Bible Name List reads Yahveh Has Adorned. Jones Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names has Ornament Of The Lord, and Brown Driver Briggs (BDB) Theological Dictionary suggests Yah Has Decked Himself.. Elishaphat
Elishaphat=There is only one man named Elishaphat in all of Fathers Word, he was the son of a man named Zichri, he is mentioned only one timeII Chronicles 23:1and he was one of the Captains of the military and was instrumental when the High Priest Jehoiada was about to reveal seven year old Joash as the rightful king of the House of Judah. Elishaphat and the other Captains went throughout all Judah to gather the Levites and the Leaders of the Tribes and cities and brought them to Jerusalem to Jehoiada. Once there, they all swore an oath of secrecy, and to protect their king until Jehoiada was ready to anoint and crown their king, and expel the evil, ungodly Athaliah. For the etymology of the name Elishaphat, we read the following in Abarim Publications: The name Elishaphat consists of two elements, the first one being אל (El), the common abbreviation of Elohim, the genus God. The second part of our name comes from the verb שפט (shapat) meaning to judge or govern: For a meaning of the name Elishaphat, New Open Bible Study Edition (NOBSE) Study Bible Name List reads God Has Judged. Jones Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names proposes God The Judge or God Judges, and explains this by adding i.e. defends him. Brown Driver Briggs (BDB) Theological Dictionary translates this name with God has Judged.. Now from the Strongs Concordance, where we find that it is Hebrew word number: H478, - אֱלִישָׁפָט, - 'ĕlı̂yshâphâṭ, pronounced - el-ee-shaw-fawtי, and means: From H410 and H8199; EL of judgment; Elishaphat, an Israelite: - Elishaphat. His son was Elishaphat, one of the Captains of hundreds who aided and assisted the High Priest Jehoiada in restoring the House of Judah to its rightful heirfrom the evil, ungodly usurper AthaliahJoash. This is the only mention of this Zichri in Fathers Word; as such, we know nothing of of the man. For the etymology of the name Zichri, we read the following in Abarim Publications: The name Zichri comes from the verb זכר (zakar), meaning to remember: The letter י (yod) upon which our name ends, may either create an adjective (commemorative), a possessive form (my remembrance), or may be a remnant of יה (Yah) = יהו (Yahu) = יו (Yu), which in turn are abbreviated forms of the Tetragrammaton יהוה, YHVH, or Yahveh. For a meaning of the name Zichri, New Open Bible Study Edition (NOBSE) Study Bible Name List goes with the adjective and reads Famous. Jones Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names takes the yod to be a sign of the Divine name but still just reads Remembered, and only adds of the Lord. Brown Driver Briggs (BDB) Theological Dictionary does not offer an interpretation of this name but does list it under the verb זכר (zakar), meaning to remember.. Now from the Strongs Concordance, where we find that it is Hebrew word number: H2147, - זִכְרִי, - zikrı̂y, pronounced - zik-reeי, and means: From H2142; memorable; Zicri, the name of twelve Israelites: - Zichri. II Chronicles 23:2 And they went about in Judah (celebrated; and, praised, celebrated) (yeh-hoo-dawי), and gathered the Levites (patronymic from H3878, attached, a Leviite or descendant of Levi; or, descendants of Levi) (lay-veeי) out of all the cities of Judah, and the chief of the fathers of Israel (he will rule as YAH; or, the prince that prevails with YAH) (Yis-raw-aleי) (secondary map), and they came to Jerusalem (founded peaceful; or, the habitation of peace) (Yer-oo-shaw-lahי-im).   —>   Once these Captains of the hundreds are gathered to him, Jehoiada had them swear to an oath of secrecy and then sent them throughout all Judah to gather all the Priests and Levites out of all the cities and bring them into Jerusalem, into Fathers House. Once they were all gathered, these Priests and Levites also had to swear to an oath of secrecy.

…Chief of the fathers of Israel…=This is not saying that the Captains of the military went up into the territories of the House of Israel and gathered the leaders of the ten Tribes. In Fathers eyes, the House of Judah was always symbolic of the entire Nation of the House of Israel, as such, what this is saying, is that, the Captains went and gathered the leaders of the cities situated in the territory of the House of Judah.

                                     23:3-11 Manifestation of Joash.
                                     23:3 The kings son revealed.
1A3
II Chronicles 23:3 And all the congregation made a covenant with the king in the house of God.

And he said unto them, Behold, the kings son shall reign, as the LORD hath said of the sons of David (loving; and, well-beloved) (Daw-veedי).   —>   …made a covenant with the king…=What this is saying, is that Jehoiada revealed Joash to all these leaders and military Captains, and then made every one of them to also make a covenant with their king, to watch over and protect him until it was time to actually reveal him.

…he said…=Jehoiada said, not Joash their king. Remember, Joash is only seven years old at this time and therefore, he doesnt yet fully understand what all is transpiring. That it is Jehoiada speaking and not Joash, will bear out in the following verses as more instructions and orders are given.

God=As used in this verse, this is אלהים, ELOHIMfrom Dr. Bullingers Companion Bible Appendices,: ELOHIMthe genus God, in other words, Father in His role of Creator of all things. From Dr. Bullingers Companion Bible, Appendix 4: ELOHIM occurs 2,700 times. Its first occurrence connects it with creation, and gives it its essential meaning as the Creator. It indicates His relation to mankind as His creatures (see note on II Chronicles 18:31, where it stands in contrast with YEHOVAH as indicating covenant relationship). ELOHIM is God the Son, the living WORD with creature form to create (John 1:1; Colossians 1:15-17; Revelation 3:14); and later, with human form to redeem (John 1:14). Begotten of His Father before all worlds; born of His mother, in the world. In this creature form He appeared to the Patriarchs, a form not temporarily assumed.. Dr. Bullinger further notes in his Companion notes to this verse, that (with Art.) = the [true] God..

The LORD=This Title of Father as used here in this verse, is Father in His Role of יְהֹוָה, YHVHfrom Dr. Bullingers Companion Bible Appendices: YHVH, YAHVEH, or YEHOVAHthe sacred and personal name of Father. While Elohim is God as the Creator of all things, YEHOVAH is the same God in covenant relation to those whom He has created (compare II Chronicles 18:31). YEHOVAH means the Eternal, the Immutable One, He Who WAS, and IS, and IS TO COME. The Divine definition is given in Genesis 21:33. He is especially, therefore, the God of Israel; and the God of those who are redeemed, and are thus now in Christ. We can say My God, but not My YEHOVAH, for YEHOVAH is MY God..

The LORD hath said=This is the great point. When did Father say this? Lets review the times Father said this: II Samuel 7:11 And as since the time that I commanded judges to be over My People Israel, and have caused thee to rest from all thine enemies. Also the LORD telleth thee that He will make thee an house. [7:12] And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. [7:13] He shall build an house for My name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.; I Kings 2:1 Now the days of David drew nigh that he should die; and he charged Solomon his son, saying, [2:2] I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man; [2:3] And keep the charge of the LORD thy God, to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, and His commandments, and His judgments, and His testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself: [2:4] That the LORD may continue His word which He spake concerning me, saying, If thy children take heed to their way, to walk before Me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee (said He) a man on the throne of Israel.; I Kings 9:3 And the LORD said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast made before Me: I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put My name there for ever; and Mine eyes and Mine heart shall be there perpetually. [9:4] And if thou wilt walk before Me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and my judgments: [9:5] Then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom upon Israel for ever, as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel.; II Chronicles 6:13 For Solomon had made a brasen scaffold, of five cubits long, and five cubits broad, and three cubits high, and had set it in the midst of the court: and upon it he stood, and kneeled down upon his knees before all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven, [6:14] And said, O LORD God of Israel, there is no God like Thee in the heaven, nor in the earth; which keepest covenant, and shewest mercy unto Thy servants, that walk before Thee with all their hearts: [6:15] Thou which hast kept with Thy servant David my father that which Thou hast promised him; and spakest with Thy mouth, and hast fulfilled it with Thine hand, as it is this day. [6:16] Now therefore, O LORD God of Israel, keep with Thy servant David my father that which Thou hast promised him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in My sight to sit upon the throne of Israel; yet so that thy children take heed to their way to walk in My law, as thou hast walked before Me.; and one more time: II Chronicles 7:17 And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before Me, as David thy father walked, and do according to all that I have commanded thee, and shalt observe My statutes and My judgments; [7:18] Then will I stablish the throne of thy kingdom, according as I have covenanted with David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man to be ruler in Israel. So, we see that Father is still keeping His Promise and has His hand in saving young Joash from Athaliah.

II Chronicles 23:4 This is the thing that ye shall do; A third part of you entering on the sabbath, of the priests and of the Levites, shall be porters of the doors;   —>   Everything is in place and set, and now Jehoiada instructs them how to proceed. He is going to divide both the Levites and the Military into three groups. The first group, the Priests and the Levites, will watch over the thresholds of the Temple and the Temple Courts, the other two thirdsas well read in the next two versesthe Military, will be at the gate at Sur as well as at the gate behind the Guard, while the last third set of the group will watch over and keep an eye on the kings house, where Athaliah is staying.

…entering on the sabbath…=These are the 24 Courses of the Priests as established and set-up by David in I Chronicles 24:7-19.

II Chronicles 23:5 And a third part shall be at the kings house; and a third part at the gate of the foundation: and all the People shall be in the courts of the house of the LORD.   —>   Jehoiada also instructed the Priests to stand watch over the Temple and the Temple Courts in order that Athaliah didnt discover young Joash, as, had she found out about him, she probably would have attempted to break down the walls of the Temple in order to get to the young king to kill him and keep herself on the throne. We read in II Kings 11:6, that Jehoiada also told them to go to the gate at Sur and also to the gate behind the guard.
1A6
II Chronicles 23:6 But let none come into the house of the LORD, save the priests, and they that minister of the Levites; they shall go in, for they are holy: but all the People shall keep the watch of the LORD.   —>   There would be a continuous rotation of both the Levite Priests and the Military Guards, and we also see that Jehoiada has now also allowed the People to be a part of this campaign. The People will be allowed to watch over the Temple Court Yard; but, not allowed into the Temple itself, only the Priests will be allowed into the Temple.

Holy=From Dr. Bullingers Companion Bible, page 76, where we read: This is ever the cry and noblest praise of all of Fathers saints and can be compared with Exodus 15:11: Exodus 15:11 Who is like unto Thee, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like Thee, glorious in holiness, Fearful in praises, doing wonders?. Holy means separated or set apart for Father. It is always rendered of the Hebrew word Kodesh from the Strongs Concordance, where we find that it is Hebrew word number: H6944, - קֹדֶש, - qôdesh, pronounced - koי-desh, and means: From H6942; a sacred place or thing; rarely abstractly sanctity: - consecrated (thing), dedicated (thing), hallowed (thing), holiness, (X most) holy (X day, portion, thing), saint, sanctuary. Total KJV occurrences: 470., except in Psalms 42:4 where is it rendered Hagag H2287, - חָגַג, - châgag, pronounced - khaw-gagי, and means: A primitive root; compare H2283; H2328; properly to move in a circle, that is, (specifically) to march in a sacred procession, to observe a festival; by implication to be giddy: - celebrate, dance, (keep, hold) a (solemn) feast (holiday), reel to and fro. Total KJV occurrences: 16. = holy day, and Deuteronomy 33:8, Psalms 16:2, 86:2, 89:19, 145:17 where it is rendered Hasid H2623, - חָסִיד, - châsı̂yd, pronounced - khaw-seedי, and means: From H2616; properly kind; that is, (religiously) pious (a saint): - godly (man), good, holy (one), merciful, saint, [un-] godly. Total KJV occurrences: 32. = favor or grace. Kodesh must have one identical meaning (as above) in all passages; and does not imply moral quality except when used of God Himself. It can also be rendered consecrated, dedicated, hallowed, holiness, saint, and sanctuary..

II Chronicles 23:7 And the Levites shall compass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand; and whosoever else cometh into the house, he shall be put to death: but be ye with the king when he cometh in, and when he goeth out.   —>   The Priests and the Levites were to arm themselvesI know that may come as a shock to some of you Christians out there, but that is exactly what was needed and is what they did, this is not the first time the Priests and the Levites armed themselves, see Exodus 32:26-28 for another example of the them arming themselves and slaying the People who rebelled against Fatherand they were to surround Joash, anybody who did not have a right to come into Fathers House or approach Joash, was to be killed without hesitation.

Jehoiada told the Priests that they were to watch over the king as he went about his daily business and anybody who tried to get too close to him meaning to harm him, they were to immediately slay, no questions asked. He knew the ruthlessness of Athaliahremember, Jehoiada watched as she murdered all her own grand-children back in II Chronicles 22:10and that she would go to any means to keep herself on the throne and if it came down to violence from her and her people, then, violence they would get back, in spades.
1A8
II Chronicles 23:8 So the Levites and all Judah did according to all things that Jehoiada the priest had commanded, and took every man his men that were to come in on the sabbath, with them that were to go out on the sabbath: for Jehoiada the priest dismissed not the courses.   —>   Jehoiada did an excellent job of keeping the Worship of Father going all through the evil reigns of Athaliah, Ahaziah and his father Jehoram. He had even kept the Courses of the Priests going, and here, we read that he still continued those Courses and the changing of the guard so to speak.
1A9
II Chronicles 23:9 Moreover Jehoiada the priest delivered to the captains of hundreds spears, and bucklers, and shields, that had been king Davids, which were in the house of God.   —>   Jehoiada issued the Ceremonial spears, bucklers and shields which were kept as historical relics and stored in a side room in Fathers Temple. Had he allowed the Levites to carry their own personal weapons, then it might have tipped Athaliah off that something was amiss in Judah, and for the time being, until he was ready, Jehoiada wanted to keep a lid on things.
1A10
II Chronicles 23:10 And he set all the People, every man having his weapon in his hand, from the right side of the temple to the left side of the temple, along by the altar and the temple, by the king round about.   —>   Jehoiada had every one of the Priests, Levites, Military Guard and the People who were conspirators with himin a good sense, as they are about to restore the kingdom back to its rightful kingstand shoulder-to-shoulder around the inside of the Temple, completely surrounding their king. Notice brethren, the verse emphasizes that every man had his weapon in his hand.

23:11 The kings son, Joash, revealed.
1A11
II Chronicles 23:11 Then they brought out the kings son, and put upon him the crown, and gave him the testimony, and made him king. And Jehoiada and his sons anointed him, and said, God save the king.   —>   Everything and everybody is in place, and both Jehoiada, and more importantly, the young Joash, are ready for him to assume his rightful position on the throne. Therefore, it is now time to bring him forth, anoint him, set his crown on his headwith him being so young, 7 years old at this point, Im sure they had to have one specially made for himgave him his own copy of the Book of The LAW or Testimonyas required by Father in Deuteronomy 17:18, so that the new king could write out his own copyand set him as king of the House of Judah. As soon as the anointingdid you know that this anointing the king or queen happens in Great Britain even to this day?and other formalities were completed, we read in II Kings 11:12 that all in attendance clapped their hands in joyous celebration, and then shouted God save the king, or in the Hebrew tongue, let the king live. Thus fulfilling Fathers Prophesy and Promise of a descendant of Davids continuing on the throne forever. That lineage is still in place today in Great Britain and will continue until the True Rightful Heir, the KING of kings returns to rightfully take His place.

                                                23:12 Athaliah, alarm.
1A12
II Chronicles 23:12 Now when Athaliah (constrained by YAH; or, afflicted of YHVH) (ath-al-yaw-sawfי-hoo) heard the noise of the People running and praising the king, she came to the people into the house of the LORD:   —>   All the joyous clapping and shouting escaped the Temple all the way to Athaiahs ears and she went to investigate. She discovered that the celebration was coming from a place which it should not have been coming from, as, she, her now dead husband, and her now dead sons had closed the Temple down and removed all Articles of worship of Father many years before. This aroused her interest even more. Upon arriving at the Temple, she discovered it was full of people, so many people, that she had to push her way through in order to get to the center, and when she got there, she also got the surprise of her life.

                                                23:13 Joash, station.
                                                23:13-15 Athaliah, execution.
1A13
II Chronicles 23:13 And she looked, and, behold, the king stood at his pillar at the entering in, and the princes and the trumpets by the king: and all the People of the land rejoiced, and sounded with trumpets, also the singers with instruments of musick, and such as taught to sing praise.

Then Athaliah rent her clothes, and said, Treason, Treason.   —>   Athaliah stood in the middle of the Temple with her mouth agape at what she was witnessing. There stood this little tyke at his pillar at the entering in, in his little royal robes, in the same manner that a king was supposed to stand, and she knew instantly what she was beholding. She also immediately understood that there had been a grand-child left over which had slipped by her killing of the royal sons of the kingdom, and they had just anointed and crowned him king. Her plan to completely control the kingdom had failed, and now she is about to be dethroned; yet, all she could muster was a treason, treason, or in the Hebrew, conspiracy, conspiracy, which was exactly the way she had come to the throne: through conspiracy, murder, and treasonous acts.

…at his pillar at the entering in…=This was the brazen scaffolding which Solomon had constructed for his dedication ceremony when he had completed the construction of Fathers Temple.

…rent her clothes…=Normally, when we read of someone renting their clothes in Fathers Word, it means that they are in a deep stage of mourning. Athaliah is not in mourning brethren, she is highly angry, and this is the reason she tore her clothes.

23:14 Joash, capture of the murderess.
1A14
II Chronicles 23:14 Then Jehoiada the priest brought out the captains of hundreds that were set over the host, and said unto them, Have her forth of the ranges: and whoso followeth her, let him be slain with the sword. For the priest said, Slay her not in the house of the LORD.   —>   Brought out=We read in II Kings 11:15, that Jehoiada commanded the Captains. He didnt have to bring them out of anywhere, as they were already revealed for all to see

Upon seeing Athaliah standing in the middle of the Temple floor shrieking, treason, treason, Jehoiada immediately commanded the Military Guards and the Levites to surround her and escort her to the door of the Temple, though, they wouldnt stop there, theyd continue a distance away from the Temple and kill her there. Anybody who lifted a finger in an attempt to assist her, was to instantly be killed where they stood, unless of course, they were still inside the Temple, then the Guards were to also escort that one with Athaliah, and be killed beside her. No spilling of unclean blood in Fathers House.

23:15 The slaying of the usurper.
1A15
II Chronicles 23:15 So they laid hands on her; and when she was come to the entering of the horse gate by the kings house, they slew her there.   —>   Some of the Guards took ahold of her while others cleared a path for the procession to proceed out of the Temple, and when they reached the horse gate by the royal palace, they then slew her. Justice has now been served.

                         23:16-21 Conspiracy of Athaliah, defeated.
                         23:16-20 Joash, Exaltation.
                         23:16 Jehoiadas reforms.
1A16
II Chronicles 23:16 And Jehoiada made a covenant between him, and between all the People, and between the king, that they should be the LORDS People.   —>   This is a wonderful start, as Jehoiada made Joash and all the People swear an oath between them and Father YHVH, that they would Honor, Serve, and Worship Him; and also between the People and the king, that the People would honor and serve the king, and he them.

As I said brethren, this is a great start; while Jehoiada is alive and leading and guiding Joash, Joash does indeed follow Father YHVH; however, as well discover, once Jehoiada dies and returns Home to Father, Joash will turn and no longer Honor, Serve and Worship Father YHVH. In fact, he even does Jehoiada wrong by murdering his son Zechariah.

                                                 23:17 Athaliah, end.
1A17
II Chronicles 23:17 Then all the people went to the house of Baal, and brake it down, and brake his altars and his images in pieces, and slew Mattan (a present, and gift; and, gift) (mat-tawnי) the priest of Baal before the altars.   —>   Well read in our next Chapter, in II Chronicles 24:7, that Jehoram and Athaliah had closed Fathers Temple and removed all the Dedicated Items, then closed and boarded up the doors. They then put all the Dedicated Items which they had looted from Fathers Temple, into a temple which they had built for the worship of the false god: baal. Now as we see, Jehoiada and all those who were with him, marched over to the temple of baal and rightfully removed all of the Items which had been Dedicated to Father, destroyed the altars of baal and then destroyed the temple itself, after they had destroyed the temple, they even slew Mattan the priest of baal in accordance with Fathers commands in Deuteronomy 13, which reads: Deuteronomy 13:6 If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;   —>   This is part of the Statutes and Judgments which Father was laying out to Moses as He brought our forefathers into the Promised Land, Moses was to then turn around and pass these same Statutes and Judgments onto the People in order that they all understood that they were to honor, serve, and worship Father only. They were also supposed to pass these same Statutes and Judgments onto their children who were to observe and do, and then also pass onto their children to continue to observe and do forever. [13:7] Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth;   —>   They were not to observe any other false god, lower case g. If somebody had come to them naming another god, and tried to convince them to serve and worship that false god, they were immediately to kill that person. Notice, though we are all Fathers Children, and His desire is that every one of us honor, serve, and worship Him, He didnt command our forefathers, or us, to go and seek others who might be serving and worshiping other false gods and kill them for doing sothe way some other religions do today to usHe didnt care who they served and worshipedHe does, and Hed rather they served and worshiped Him; but, you get my pointHe said to let them be; however, if they came into our forefathers camp and tried to seduce them into serving their gods, then they were to kill that person(s) who did so. [13:8] Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him:    —>   If one comes into our forefathers campand tried\tries to force them\us to accept false gods, doctrine, dogma, traditionsand that the righteous start to perform what Father has commanded, no one else within the camp, city, town, state or Nation was to take pity upon the one upon which Capital Punishment was being administered to. [13:9] But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.   —>   The High Priest, the Priests, the Judge or Ruler of the camp, city, town, state or Nation, was to be the first to begin the process of administering the Capital Punishment, and then the remaining community was to join in, signifying that they were all in accord with Father and His Word. [13:10] And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die; because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the LORD thy God, Which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.   —>   They were to killthis is not murder as; the one who was trying to lead astray was in essence, trying to kill the soulnepheshof all the people within the camp, city, town, state or Nationthat person, because he tried\tries to lead them\us away from our Father ELOHIM, Who Created us. [13:11] And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such wickedness as this is among you.   —>   Stamp it out, put a stop to it, and dont ever allow it to come into the camp, city, town, state, or Nation! Pretty much what we here in the USA should have done with the current trend of celebrating the insanity homosexualism, transgenderism, abortion, and all the other isms they are trying to force us to accept!
baal
baal=When we speak of baal, we have to include the worship of ashtaroh, because they are tied together as a unit. Where ever baal worship exists, the groves are mentioned, as well as the word asherah. The word asherah in the Hebrew is from the root word Aahar, and it means to be straight, erect, and/or upright. It is from this word, that we get the moral reference, to be upright, hence happy and prosper. The male part, called asherahbaalis distinguished from ashtaroth the female goddessishtar, what we call easter todayyet, the images are worshipped together. The ashtaroth being representative of the productiveor passiveprinciple of life; and baal or asherah being representative of the generativeor activepart of the process for producing life. In other words, this is using the sexual process in a form of worship, and the shaping of the trunks of the treesinto phallic symbolsas the idols and imagesgrovesare done to excite the worshippers into the practice, and Father hates the practice. It was from this form, that the religious practices of evolution that we have today came from, giving chance, and the reproductive processes of men and women, the credit of creation and salvation for mankind. It leaves ELOHIM - the Creator - our Heavenly Father, out of the creation process, and man ends up worshipping the creation and himself, rather than our Creator, Who is The ONE and ONLY True Living God. In some religions, symbols mean everything; and the ashrah, or the phallus was the symbol for baal worship. The forming of this symbol in their formed images, made from the topping of a tree, and shaping of it became the image of worship. What started out to be the honoring of the origin of life; became a corrupted form of worshipping of the organs that produce the life. These symbols in turn, became the incentive to all forms of impurity, which in time turned into nothing but sexual orgies. Since the creation of man on the sixth day, and no written knowledge of what they were worshipping, we dont really know when this all started. However, we also can look to what was happening and happened when the fallen angels came in Genesis 6, we know that they were mating with women and doing who knows what else sexually with them, but suffice it to say that is was probably perverted; and from it also they were worshipping the reproductive organs. We do know some of this started also in the ancient canaanite religions, which originated way back in Nimrods day who was the grandson of Noah, the son of Ham. Ham had four sons and their names were Cush, Mizraim, Phut, and Canaan. Canaan was the father of the Canaanites who were the originators of baal and ashtorah. Nimrod was the son of Cush. It was for this reason that Father gave the commandment to Israel, that when they entered into the Promised LandFather told Abram that He was going to allow some of this to come to pass back in Genesis 15but as soon as they came out of Egypt; they were to kill all of the Canaanites, tare down their images and destroy their groves. Thats right Father said to utterly destroy every man, woman and child, and even their animals. Sadly, they did not listen to Father; they did not destroy the Canaanites, but mixed in with them and also the GibeonitesHivitesas we can read of in Joshua 9, and because of their disobedience to Father, the Israelites have brought all their troubles upon themselves, even to this day.
Mattan
Mattan=Mattan was a baal priest who was justly and rightly slain in his own temple by the People of the House of Judah when they also slew Athaliah and got rid of all idolatrous altars and images. For the etymology of the name Mattan, we read the following from Abarim Publications: The name Mattan is the same as the word מתן (mattan), meaning gift: For a meaning of the name Mattan, New Open Bible Study Edition (NOBSE) Study Bible Name List and Jones Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names both read Gift. Brown Driver Briggs (BDB) Theological Dictionary doesnt translate this name but does confirm that it is identical to the noun מתן (mattan), meaning gift.. Now from the Strongs Concordance, where we find that it is Hebrew word number: H4977, - מַתָּן, - mattân, pronounced - mat-tawnי, and means: The same as H4976; a present, gift; Mattan, the name of a priest of Baal, and of an Israelite: - Mattan. Total KJV occurrences: 3.. Now from the Smiths Bible Dictionary, where we read: A gift. The priest of Baal slain before his altars in the idol temple at Jerusalem, II Kings 11:18; II Chron. 23:17. He probably accompanied Athalia from Samaria..
1A18
II Chronicles 23:18 Also Jehoiada appointed the offices of the house of the LORD by the hand of the priests the Levites, whom David had distributed in the house of the LORD, to offer the burnt offerings of the LORD, as it is written in the law of Moses (Drawing out [of the water], that is, rescued; or, drawn, i.e. from the water) (mo-shehי), with rejoicing and with singing, as it was ordained by David.   —>   After Jehoiada and the People removed Fathers Dedicated Items from the house of baal, once they had destroyed the house of baal, once they had slain Mattan; then, Jehoiada, Joash and the People restored the true and correct worship of Father YHVH. How did they do that? By turning to His Word, by following what He commanded in His Word, and by being hearers and doers of His Word.
1A19
II Chronicles 23:19 And he set the porters at the gates of the house of the LORD, that none which was unclean in any thing should enter in.   —>   Under Fathers guidance, David had established a good system to protect Fathers Tabernacle; here, we see Jehoiada following through with what David had set-up.
1A20
II Chronicles 23:20 And he took the captains of hundreds, and the nobles, and the governors of the People, and all the People of the land, and brought down the king from the house of the LORD: and they came through the high gate into the kings house, and set the king upon the throne of the kingdom.   —>   The people of the House of Judah cleaned house in the land of Judah, just as Jehu had in the land of the House of Israel. They completely destroyed the buildings and the altars and everything which was part of the baal system of worship. They even killed the high priest of baal, Mattan, just as Jehu killed the baal priests which Jezebel brought into the ten northern territories. It is important that when you tear out those wicked habits in your lifei.e., things which go against Father and His Wordthat you utterly destroy the images which cause your mind to be drawn to those wicked ways. This did not bring the two nations back under the umbrella of one Nation Israel; but, Father worked in a way to take baal worship out of His two nations and restore the things of Him to both Israel and Judah. However, Israel to the north, with Jehu as their king, are still bowing to the two calves which Rehoboam established some two hundred years prior, and sadly, well see as early asverse II Chronicles 24:8of the next Chapter, that, as soon as Jehoiada dies and returns Home to Father, asherah worship, groves and the high places of worship will be restored. But, for now, Athaliah has been killed, and all her religious system with her. Fathers Temple is about to be completely restored, and this young seven year old boy is now sitting on the throne over the House of Judah; and in his innocence, he shall be led by the Jehoiada the High Priest in the ways of Father and hell continue to do so for the most part, so long as Jehoiada is still living, leading and guiding him.
1A21
II Chronicles 23:21 And all the people of the land rejoiced: and the city was quiet, after that they had slain Athaliah with the sword.   —>   The land rejoiced and the city was quiet when? Once the usurper had been removed from her position as queen over the House of Judah and executed for murdering all the seed royal. This is a wonderful example of how it shall be at the end of this Age of Flesh Man, the land shall rejoice and there shall be quietness when the: prince of this world shall be removed from his position of pretend to be jesus: antichrist, as can be read in Revelation 19:1,2, and 7.
