I CHRONICLES CHAPTER 15

We read in I Chronicles 13 of David wanting to bring Fathers Ark to Jerusalem; but, never completing that task because of His and the Priesthoods not first consulting Father as to whether they should do that, nor how that should be accomplished, and their lack of knowledge concerning how to handle Fathers Holy items. We read of David and our forefathers putting Fathers Ark on a new cart to transport it and when company came to the threshoingfloor of Chidonwho was also known as Nachonthe oxen which was leading the new cart, stumbled and a Kohathite Levite named Uzza reached forth his hand to ensure Fathers Ark didnt fall from the cart. Father struck him dead on the spot for reaching forth his hand to touch Fathers Ark. David became initially angry with Father for bringing about a breach upon Uzza, but in the next verse, he became afraid and confused as to what Father wanted and as to how to properly transport Fathers Ark. So, he decided hed temporarily put Fathers Ark in another Levites house, this one named Obed who lived in Edom. That was where the Chapter closed, with Fathers Ark sitting in the house of Obed of Edom and Father having respect unto and Blessing Obed and his family for having respect unto Father and His Holy things.

Our last Chapter, I Chronicles 14, found David and our forefathers warring against their arch enemies, the Philistines, who came against Israel because our forefathers anointed David king of the House of Israel. The Philistines thought to get the first strike in prior to David growing any stronger; however, they just didnt realize that Father YHVH was already with David, and no matter what they thought or did, they werent going to get the upper-hand on him. As the Philistines gathered themselves in the Valley Rephaim, David, unlike his predecessor Saul, immediately consulted with Father as to whether He would give His Children the victory or not. Father told David to go, because, yes, He would deliver the Philistines into Davids hands, and David thus had the victory over his enemy. Sometime later, the Philistines again gathered themselves in the Valley Rephaim to come against our forefathers; and again, David inquired of Father as to whether He would give them the victory. This time Father told David to not go against the Philistines as, it wasnt because Father wasnt going to give David the victory over the Philistines, it was because He was going to use His Army the Army of Father YHVH to lead the charge against the Philistines see, Father told David to have his army circle around the Philistines; then, sit-tight until he heard the rustling of the trees, and when he heard that rustling; then, it was time to move. Father caused a division or breach within the Philistine camp much like He caused the Red Sea to come crashing down upon the Egyptians as the Israelites were fleeing Egypt when He brought them up, out of their bondage to the Egyptians. David was obedient and waited until the proper time, and then he and the Israelite Army smote the Philistines from GebaGibeonuntil thou come to Gazer.

Now, in this Chapter, well be reading of David gathering the necessary and correct People to go and fetch Fathers Ark out of the house of Obed-edom where It has been sitting for the past three or so months. David begins his task in this Chapter however, he wont complete it in this Chapter, that wont happen until our next Chapter, I Chronicles 16. These events are also covered in II Samuel 6:1-23.

With that introduction being said, lets go to Father and ask Him for His Blessings on our Study of His Word: Father, we come to you right now to thank you for inviting us to Your table in order that we might be able to partake of and receive Your Spiritual Meat, and Father, as we prepare to dine on the sustenance which sustains our inner man, we ask that You Oh LORD open our ears and eyes, that we might be able to hear and see your Truths, open our hearts and minds and prepare us in order that we may receive Your Truth. We Pray for Your Understanding of Your Word, we seek Your Knowledge in Your Word, and most importantly Father, we Pray for and desire Your Wisdom from Your Word, in Jesus Precious name we Pray, thank You Father, Amen.

I Chronicles 15:1 And David (loving; or, well-beloved) (Daw-veedי) made him houses in the city of David, and prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched for it a tent.   —>   Made him houses=This is referring back to our last Chapter where we saw David having his royal palaces built. Now, we see that he also had a tent erected in order to place Fathers Ark which he is about to go retrieve from Obed-edoms house. The city of David mentioned here, is just another name for Israels Capital City: Jerusalem.

Dr. Bullinger notes in his Companion Bible at verse I Chronicles 16:1on Page 552concerning David bringing Fathers Ark to Jerusalem: This was 951-950B.C. A Sabbatic Year. David was born in 990B.C., that means that he was 39-40 years old when he did so and his son Solomon, Israels nextor third man kingis still 12-13 years away from being born as, he wasnt born until the year 938B.C., when David was 52 years old.

A tent=Some of you may be wondering why David had to erect a tent for Fathers Ark, especially considering that Moses had already fashioned the Mosiac Tabernacle. Well, had they set-up the Mosiac Tabernacle the full complete Mosiac Tabernacle, then there wouldve been difficulties finding a place large enough to build the Temple. Davids tent was only provisional. The provision will yet be repeated, before the erection of the future Temple. We can read of Davids tent being builded again in Acts 15:16, which reads: Acts 15:16 After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up: [15:17] That the residue of men might seek after the LORD, and all the Gentiles, upon whom My name is called, saith the LORD, Who doeth all these things..

Ark of God=Note the different titles used of Fathers Ark in His Word, especially in the Books of the Chronicles: Its The Ark fifteen times, The Ark of God twelve times, The Ark of the LORD four times, The Ark of the Covenant of the LORD eleven times, The Ark of the covenant of God once, The Ark of Thy strength once, The holy Ark once, and The Ark of our God once, for a total of forty-six uses. Now, lets compare the title here, with those of Exodus 25:22 which Dr. Bullinger declares the other seven titles: Ark of the Testimony, Ark of the covenant of YHVH, Ark of Adonai YHVH, Ark of YHVH, Ark of ELOHIM, The holy Ark, and The Ark of Thy strength.

God=This is Elohimfrom Dr. Bullingers Companion Bible Appendices: ELOHIMthe genus God, Father in His role of Creator of all things.

15:2-15 Conveyance.
   Levites.

I Chronicles 15:2 Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites (attached; or, joined) (lay-veeי): for them hath the LORD chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister unto him for ever.   —>   We see that David has learned from his previous err of allowing Fathers Ark to be put on a cart for transporting. Now, he knows and understands that It is to be borne on the shoulders of the LevitesI like the way our Pastor, Pastor Dennis Murray, put this in his broadcast, he said: uh ho, looks like somebodys been reading the 4th Book of Moses, The Book of Numbersof course, he was referring to Numbers 4:15, Numbers 7:9 and Numbers 10:21, where Father directs that His Ark be carried on the shoulders of the Kohathites.

So, how were Fathers Holy Vesselsi.e., His Ark, His Tabernacle, all the vessels which were to be used inside the Holy Place and the Holiest of Holiesto be cared for and transported? Lets turn to Numbers 4 and read of it to refresh ourselves: Numbers 4:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,   —>   Father is addressing both Mosesthe lawand Aaronthe high priest. [4:2] Take the sum of the sons of Kohath from among the sons of Levi, after their families, by the house of their fathers,   —>   Here Father is going to announce what the service of each of the three families of the Levitesthe Kohathitesthe Priesthoodthe Gershonites and the Meraritesis going to be. Father will specifically address each family and within that family who is going to do what by age. As we see, He is starting with the family of the Kohathites. [4:3] From thirty years old and upward even until fifty years old, all that enter into the host, to do the work in the tabernacle of the congregation.   —>
As we saw from verse v4:2 above, Moses and Aaron were to take a head count of those from 30-50 years old and this service then is for those who are between 30 and 50 years of age. Well see later in Numbers 8 that, they will actually enter into a probationary period starting at age 25 until 30, and then at 50, they will no more be required to serve. Numbers 8:24 This is it that belongeth unto the Levites: from twenty and five years old and upward they shall go in to wait upon the service of the tabernacle of the congregation: [8:25] And from the age of fifty years they shall cease waiting upon the service thereof, and shall serve no more: [8:26] But shall minister with their brethren in the tabernacle of the congregation, to keep the charge, and shall do no service. Thus shalt thou do unto the Levites touching their charge.   —>   Then, many years later when they finally have rest, as we can read of in I Chronicles 23, Father will command that the age requirement will drop down to 20 years of age. [4:4] This shall be the service of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation, about the most holy things:   —>   The Kohathites will bear and carry all the Holy things whenever the Israelites move anywhere. They wont be able to take down or handle any piece individuallyonly the High Priest is allowed to do thatbut, as a whole, it will be theirs to carry from place to place. [4:5] And when the camp setteth forward, Aaron shall come, and his sons, and they shall take down the covering vail, and cover the ark of the testimony with it:   —>   In this and the following verses, vNumbers 4:6-15, well see many and(s), again, this is a polysyndeton, meaning there is much more involved than what is being stated in these verses. But, as well see, it is only Aaron and his sons who may handle the individual pieces of the holy things. Here in this verse, we see that the first thing to be taken down is the covering vailthat vail that, when Jesus gave up The Spirit while He was on that cross dying for our sins, was ripped from top to bottomand they are to cover the Ark of the Testimony with this veil. [4:6] And shall put thereon the covering of the badgers skins, and shall spread over it a cloth wholly of blue, and shall put in the staves thereof.   —>   Aaron and his sonsEleazar and IthamarNadab and Abihu have already died and returned Home to Fathercover the ark with the coverings and then put the staves in so that the sons of Kohath can then carry it. [4:7] And upon the table of the shewbread they shall spread a cloth of blue, and put thereon the dishes, and the spoons, and the bowls, and covers to cover withal: and the continual bread shall be thereon: —>
This will be the manner in which they carry all the utensils and they also put the daily sacrifice bread upon the table. For a longer study on this, see the note at Leviticus 24:6 in Dr. Billingers Companion Bible and also read all the verses that Dr. Bullinger references there, especially II Chronicles 29:18 and those following it. [4:8] And they shall spread upon them a cloth of scarlet, and cover the same with a covering of badgers skins, and shall put in the staves thereof.   —>   Again, it is Aaron and his sons who place all the utensils and the coverings on the table of shewbread, then put the staves in, and then, the Kohathites can carry it. [Numbers 4:9] And they shall take a cloth of blue, and cover the candlestick of the light, and his lamps, and his tongs, and his snuffdishes, and all the oil dishes thereof, wherewith they minister unto it: [4:10] And they shall put it and all the vessels thereof within a covering of badgers skins, and shall put it upon a bar.   —>   So, they were to cover all the vessels of the lampstandsthe lamps; tongs; snuffdishes etc.then they were to lay a covering of badgers skins out so that they could then place all the items into it and then fasten this covering onto a stave or a staff and carry it between two or so of them, such as the spies will when they carry the cluster of grapes in Numbers 13:23. [Numbers 4:11] And upon the golden altar they shall spread a cloth of blue, and cover it with a covering of badgers skins, and shall put to the staves thereof:
—>   The altar also has rings for the staves to fit into, therefore they carry it by the staves. [4:12] And they shall take all the instruments of ministry, wherewith they minister in the sanctuary, and put them in a cloth of blue, and cover them with a covering of badger skins, and shall put them on a bar:   —>   Again all the instruments used in the service of the ministry get covered then placed in a covering of badgers skins and carried as we saw in verse v4:10 above. [4:13] And they shall take away the ashes from the altar, and spread a purple cloth thereon:   —>   Remember, even the ashes were Holy so, they couldnt just take them and discard them anywhere, there was a certain place for them to be discarded. Once the ashes were removed, then they could cover the altar. [4:14] And they shall put upon it all the vessels thereof, wherewith they minister about it, even the censers, the fleshhooks, and the shovels, and the basons, all the vessels of the altar; and they shall spread upon it a covering of badgers skins, and put to the staves of it.   —>   All these vessels get wrapped up and then placed upon the altar which also then gets covered and the staves placed in the rings to be carried. [4:15 And when Aaron and his sons have made an end of covering the sanctuary, and all the vessels of the sanctuary, as the camp is to set forward; after that, the sons of Kohath shall come to bear it: but they shall not touch any holy thing, lest they die. These things are the burden of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation. —>
After everything is wrapped up, covered up, placed in bars and staves put in, then can the sons of Kohath come and take hold of the bars and the staves to carry all the vessels. Notice also that should they touch Fathers Holy things, Hell strike them deadas He did Nadab and Abihuand call them Home to Him. [4:16] And to the office of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest pertaineth the oil for the light, and the sweet incense, and the daily meat offering, and the anointing oil, and the oversight of all the tabernacle, and of all that therein is, in the sanctuary, and in the vessels thereof.   —>
Those were taskings of the descendants of Kohath. We change subjects beginning in the next verse but, still address the Kohathites. [4:17] And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, [4:18] Cut ye not off the tribe of the families of the Kohathites from among the Levites:   —>   This will be explained a little bit further and made clearer in the next two verses. [4:19] But thus do unto them, that they may live, and not die, when they approach the most holy things: Aaron and his sons shall go in, and appoint them every one to his service and to his burden.   —>   Notice that each has to be appointed by name to each task so there is no confusion as to who will be doing what. [4:20] But they shall not go in to see when the holy things are covered, lest they die.   —>
Remember, it is only Aaron and his sons who may now see the most holy things, and the Kohathites, even though they are Levites, are to wait outside until Aaron and his sons finish covering all the most holy things and then come out to get them, before they can go in to carry all the vessels of the most holy things.

One of the greatest take-aways from all this brethren is, if were going to honor, serve and worship Father; then, we need to do so according to how He commanded and directed, not according to our own desires, how we want to. Otherwise, we delve into what we see in most church houses today, i.e., mans customs, denominational doctrines, dogmas and traditions, in other words, we make-up how we want to serve Father and therefore, we make an idol and serve it rather than serving and worshiping Father.

Levi (Levites)=Levi was Jacobs third eldest son, he too was born of Leah. Levi was confederate with his older brother Simeon in exacting revenge on the Hivites for Shechems raping their sister Dinah, and as such, during the Blessing by their father Jacob, Levi received the same as Simeon. Genesis 49:5 Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments of cruelty are in their habitations. [49:6] O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honour, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their selfwill they digged down a wall. [49:7 Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.. That being said; it was the descendants of Levinamely Gershon, Kohath, and Merari, then Kohaths grandchildren: Aaron, Miriam, Moses, and then Aarons sons and so forthwhom Father choose to bestow His Priesthood upon, Moses is included in this grouping as, he was Aaron and Miriams younger brother, and it was he whom Father choose to lead our forefathers up out of their bondage to the Egyptians. Yes, Levis descendants were indeed scattered throughout Israel; however, it was because they were the Priesthood and they became Fathers Inheritance: Numbers 18:20 And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel. [18:21 And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.   —>   There is no finer inheritance. During the Blessing of Moses in Deuteronomy 33 we read: Deuteronomy 33:8 And of Levi he said, Let Thy Thummim and thy Urim be with Thy holy one, Whom Thou didst prove at Massah, And with whom thou didst strive at the waters of Meribah; [33:9] Who said unto his father and to his mother, I have not seen him; Neither did he acknowledge his brethren, Nor knew his own children: For they have observed Thy word, And kept Thy covenant. [33:10] They shall teach Jacob Thy judgments, and Israel Thy law: they shall put incense before Thee, and whole burnt sacrifice upon Thine altar. [33:11] Bless, LORD, his substance, And accept the work of his hands: Smite through the loins of them that rise against him, And of them that hate him, that they rise not again.    —>   Levis descendants would become the High Priest and Priest line; and, as such, the High Priest would bear the Urim and Thummim, the two stones which in the Hebrew language means lights, and perfection. Lights in the manner that brought all judgments of gilt to light, and perfection for moral perfection, and thus, innocence. The two stones were part of the Priests Breastplate and worn in a bag which was attached to the Breastplate. When any legal decision needed to be made, the Priest had to be present, especially concerning land or of the such. The Thummim stone would be cast down and the way the stone landed determined innocence or guilt. If a moral decision was to be made the Urim stone was cast, and the pointing determined it to be yes or no, guilt or innocence. The decisions were made on yes or no, right or wrong, andthough this is a bad analogy, itll still put it forthit was sort of like flipping a coin to see what the answer would be; however, the reality was that Father had complete control over the two stones for, it was at His command that the Levites used this method to receive their answer, or judgment. The Levitical Priests were also Fathers choice that shall teach all of the tribes the full Commandments, Judgments, Laws, Ordinances and Statutes of our Father. Now, as to the numbering of the Levites in the Book of Numbers, the Levites were left out of the numbering of the House of Israel, because Father numbered them separately in Numbers 3 where we read their numbers were: 22,300 males a month old and up; but, in Numbers 4, their numbers were 8,580 ages 30-50. Levis encampment as they came out of Egypt and wandered in the wilderness, was in the midst of the camp, surrounded by all the other Tribes. The sign on Levis Standard was Libra, or more anciently the Altar. There is some controversy about the etymology of the name Levi, the Brown Driver Briggs (BDB) Theological Dictionary suggests that the name Levi was derived from the word Levite, instead of vice versa, and that the word Levite has to do with a Minaean word for priest. Another suggestion is that the name Levi (לוי) is derived from the name Leah (לאה) and means Weary, rather than something else. Harris Archer Waltke (HAW) Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament disagrees with this kind of strong disclaimers and (as does New Open Bible Study Edition (NOBSE) Study Bible Name List) derives the name Levi from the verb לוה (lawa) meaning join, be joined. This is the verb that Leah uses when she names Levi, Now this time my husband will be joined to me, because I have borne to him three sons (Genesis 29:34).. Now from the Strongs Concordance, we find it is Hebrew word number: H3878, - לוי, - lêvı̂y, pronounced - lay-veeי, and means: From H3867; attached; Levi, a son of Jacob: - Levi. See also H3879, H3881 Total KJV occurrences: 283.. Now from the Smiths Bible Dictionary, where we read: The name of the third son of Jacob by his wife Leah. The name, derived from lavah, to adhere, gave utterance to the hope of the mother that the affections of her husband, which had hitherto rested on the favored Rachel, would at last be drawn to her: This time will my husband be joined unto me, because I have borne him three sons Genesis 29:34. Levi, with his brother Simeon, avenged with a cruel slaughter the outrage of their sister Dinah [DINAH]. Levi, with his three sons, Gershon, Kohath and Merari, went down to Egypt with his father Jacob Genesis 47:11. When Jacobs death draws near, and the sons are gathered round him, Levi and Simeon hear the old crime brought up again to receive its sentence. They no less than Reuben, the incestuous firstborn, had forfeited the privileges of their birthright Genesis 49:5-7 [LEVITES]..

I Chronicles 15:3 And David gathered all Israel (he will rule as YAH; or, the prince that prevails with YAH) (Yis-raw-aleי) (secondary map) together to Jerusalem (founded peaceful; or, the habitation of peace) (Yer-oo-shaw-lahי-im), to bring up the ark of the LORD unto his place, which he had prepared for it.   —>   Compare and contrast this verse and the next several verses here in I Chronicles 15From Fathers perspective and point of viewwith that of II Samuel 6from mans perspectiveand youll immediately notice that II Samuel 6 doesnt go into near the detail of the events of the second attempt to bring Fathers Ark to Jerusalem, and also there in II Samuel 6, the role of Priesthood, the Priests, and the Levites are minimized and military is emphasized whereas, here in Chronicles two entire Chapters are devoted to the bringing up of Fathers Ark.

Israel=The kingdom of Israel consists and comprises of both a People, and a territory. The People were and are our Father, our Creator ELOHIMs Chosen People. Chosen only in the sense that they were the lineage through which He Himself will\would be born in the flesh as His Only Begotten Son: Jesus Christ. That lineage began with Adam, then his son Seth, down to Noah, then his son Shem, down to Abram, then his son Isaac, and the his son Jacob whom Father renamed Israel, on to his two sons Leviactually, Levis son Amram amd his son Aaron and his descendantsand Judahand his son Pharez, then his son Hezron, then his son Aram, then his Amminadab, then his son Nashon, then his son Salmon, then his son Boaz, then his son Obed, then his son Jesse, then his son David. Both lineages culminated and terminated at Marycousin to Elisabeth, wife of Zachariaswhom the Holy Spirit overshadowed while she was yet a virgin, and after Michael the arch angel had told would come to pass. When Father had changed Jacobs name to Israel and then he had his twelve sonsReuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Dan, Napthali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph, and Benjaminwho went into captivity to Egypt for those 200 plus years, when Father led them out by the hand of Moses, they became known collectively as, the House of Israel. As for the territory, see the links of the 2 maps in the verse to understand the land mass which comprised the territory of Israel. As to the etymology of the name Israel, the meaning of the name Israel is not clear; but, yet, its huge. The meaning of Israel is not singular and distinct; but, consists of many nuances and facets and bulges with theological significance. Judging from Genesis 32:28, the form ישראל (Israel) appears to be a compilation of two elements. The first one is the noun אל, El, the abbreviated form of אלהים, Elohim, denoting the genus God: The second part of our name appears to be related to the verb שרה I (sara I): However, even though Genesis 32:28 uses the enigmatic verb שרה which is assumed to mean to struggle but which might something else entirely its by no means certain that this verb is etymologically linked to our name Israel. When we say, we named him Bob because that seemed like a good idea, we certainly dont mean to say that the name Bob means good idea. The first part of the name Israel looks a lot like the verb שרה that explains this name; but, this apparent link is possibly a mere case of word-play. In fact, the name Israel may have more to do with the verb ישר (yashar), meaning to be upright. Note that the difference between the letter שׂ (sin) as found in the name ישׂראל (Israel) and the letter שׁ (shin) as found in the verb ישׁר (yashar) didnt exist in Biblical times and as it was invented more than a thousand years after the Bible was written: For a meaning of the name Israel, New Open Bible Study Edition (NOBSE) Study Bible Name List, Brown Driver Briggs (BDB) Theological Dictionary and Alfred Jones (Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names) unanimously go with the verb שרה of which the meaning is unsure. Undeterred, NOBSE reads God Strives, and BDB proposes El Persisteth or El Persevereth. Alfred Jones figures that the mysterious verb שרה might very well mean to be princely, and assumes that the name Israel consists of a future form of this verb, which hence would mean to become princely. And so Jones interprets the name Israel with He Will Be Prince With God.. Now from the Strongs Concordance, where we find that it is Hebrew word number: H3478, - ישׂראל, - Yiśrâ'êl, pronounced - Yis-raw-ale, and means: From H8280 and H410; he will rule as God; Jisrael, a symbolical name of Jacob; also (typically) of his posterity: - Israel. Total KJV occurrences: 2,576.. Now from the Smiths Bible Dictionary: The description of Israel in the Smiths Bible Dictionary is extensive and too long to post here; so, Ill instead just post the link to it: Israel.

Jerusalem=Jerusalem, like several other of the cities of our forefathers, is rich in history. When our forefathers moved into the Promised Land, JerusalemJebus as it was known as at the time; though, we can also go back as far as the Book of Joshua; Joshua 10:1, and the Book of Judges; Judges 1:8 and read that it had already been called Jerusalemwas in the hands of the Canaanites, and more specifically, the Jebusites. It stayed that way for hundreds of years before David, as king, mustered the troops to fight against the Jebusites and capture Fathers most favorite place in all His Created Universe. We find in the entomology of the name Jerusalem that, without a doubt, the second and dominant part of the name remindedthen and nowof the word שלום (shalom), meaning: peace. The root of this word, שלם (shalem), denotes completeness, wholeness and soundness: In this sense, the name Jerusalem is related to some other famous names from the David saga: Solomon and Absalom. The first part of the name Jerusalem may likely have reminded a Hebrew audience of the verb ירה (yara), throw, cast or shoot; Perhaps the name Jerusalem was never changed, but only Hebraized, because it seems to mean Rain Of Peace. Jerusalem was to be the radiating heart of a world of completeness and wholeness. It seems that history supplied her with a most suiting name. As I said in the opening of the description here; Jerusalem is rich with history, far too much to list here; but, of particular note, or importance is this tidbit: it was the land that our Father took to be His Wife;Ezekiel 16:3but, as can be read in Jeremiah 3:8, because of our forefathers being sottish, He issued her a bill of divorcement. Now from the Strongs Concordance, we find it is Hebrew word number: H3389, - ירוּשׁלם, or ירוּשׁלים, - Yerûshâlaim, or Yerûshâlayim, pronounced - Yer-oo-shaw-lah'-im, or Yer-oo-shaw-lah'-yim , and means: A dual (in allusion to its two main hills (the true pointing, at least of the former reading, seems to be that of H3390)); probably from (the passive participle of) H3384 and H7999, founded peaceful; Jerushalaim or Jerushalem, the capital city of Palestine: - Jerusalem.. Now from the Smiths Bible Dictionary, where we read: The description of Jerusalem in the Smiths Bible Dictionary is extensive and too long to post here; so, Ill instead just post the link to it: Jerusalem.

I Chronicles 15:4 And David assembled the children of Aaron (a teacher; or, lofty) (a-har-oneי), and the Levites:   —>   Again, we see that David is doing this correctly as, he gathers both the Aaronites, i.e., the Priesthoodmeaning, the Kohathites which included the High Priest and those who were responsible for Fathers sanctuary and His vessels and the carrying thereofand the Gershonites and the Merarites who made up the other two tribes of Levi. The Gershonites and Merarites were the bearers of Fathers Tabernacle and all the items which made up His Tabernacle, i.e., the boards and panels, the cloth and curtains, the metal, brass, silver and other things which made up the spoons, forks, and pots and other items which were used during the course of sacrifices and such. When I say that they bear these items, for the Gershonites and Merites at least, it didnt mean that they had to physically carry all these items from place to place, they were allowed to put theses items on wagons to move them, it was only Fathers Holy Items which were to be borne on shoulders of the Kohathites.

Well see beginning in the next verse that, David will specifically separate, highlight and designate each of the three Tribes of Levi.

Aaron=Aaron was the oldest son of Amram and his wife Jochebed, he was brother to Miriam and Moses, and both grandson and great-grandson of Levi through Levis second oldest son Kohath, and Levis daughterKohathssister Jochebed. There are 331 verses with 350 matches for the name Aaron and its associated Strongs Hebrew word number: 175 in Fathers Word. We are introduced to Aaron in Fathers Word, after being introduced to his younger brother Moses, when Father instructs Moses to return to Egypt to tell pharaoh to let His People go and Moses tells Father that he is of slow speech and tongue, and Father becomes angry with Moses and tells him that his brother the Levite will meet him as he is returning, and will be glad in his heart to see him, and hell do the speaking for Moses, when Mosses cannot find the words. Aaron does indeed meet Moses as he returns to Egypt and he does assist him every step of the way while Moses tries to convince pharaoh to let the Israelites leave their bondage to the Egyptians. After pronouncing 10 plagues upon Egypt, the last being the first born of every human and animal who was not covered by the blood of the slain lamb, pharaoh had finally had enough, and he told Moses to take the Israelites to flee Egypt. We read in Exodus 6 that before they fled Egypt, Aaron had already taken to wife Elisheba who bare him his 4 sons: Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar. We further read in Exodus 6 that Aarons third oldest son Eleazar was also old enough and had already taken a wife before they fled Egypt. We discover several things in Exodus 7, among them were that, Moses was 80 and Arron 83 when they were convincing pharaoh to let them leave Egyptthat made Miriam either 81 or 82and that Father deemed, or elevated Aaron to Prophet status. Aaron was instrumental in the defeat of the Amalekites in that, as the war wore on, Moses arms grew heavy from holding them upwhich, so long as he held them up, Israel was having the victoryand every time he lowered them, Aaron and Hur braced his arms until the going down of the sun and our forefathers had the victory. We find in Exodus 24 Father calling Moses up onto Mount Sinai to give him the orders of the Priesthood and the Ten Commandments, while there Father tells Moses in Exodus 28 that Moses was to take Aaron and his sons from amongst all Israel, for they were to minister to Father as His Priests. Then sadly, we read in Exodus 32 that while Moses was still up receiving the Ten Commandments, certain men came to Aaron and convinced him that Moses wasnt coming back down off the Mount; therefor, Aaron should fashion a new god for them to follow after, one made from gold, a golden calf such as they worshiped while in Egypt. I say sadly because, we read that Aaron complied without even putting up any resistence to their demands, or fight for his brother Moses. We read in Leviticus 8 of the consecration of Aaron and his sons as Fathers Priests. We find while researching the etymology of the name Aaron that, the name is not a regular Hebrew word and thats possibly because it originated elsewhere (probably Egypt). But, since most names in the Bible mean something and foreign names often were transliterated into Hebrew in such a way that they began to mean something in Hebrew, its interesting to see what the name Aaron may have meant to a Hebrew audience. Jones Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names derives Aaron from the Hebrew word הר (har) meaning mountain, hill (and a mountain is sometimes used as metaphor for a large group of people). From this perspective, the name Aaron is related to the Hebrew names Ararat and Haran. Another way of looking at the name Aaron (as does New Open Bible Study Edition (NOBSE) Study Bible Name List) is to follow the Hebrew root אור ss(יor) meaning to be or become light: There may even be relations between the name Aaron and the word ארון ss(יaron), meaning chest or Ark (see the name Aran). This word is used for an offer chest (II Kings 12:10), a sarcophagus (Genesis 50:26) but mostly to indicate the Ark of the Covenant (Exodus 25:10). And finally we note the curious similarity between the name אהרן (Aaron; spelled with the letter ה) and the adjective אחרון (aharon; spelled with the letter ח), meaning hindermost, latter or last. See any of the אחר-names (like Aharah) for more details on this word.. Now from the Strongs Concordance, where we find that it is Hebrew word number: H175, - אַהֲרוֹן, - 'ahărôn, pronounced - a-har-one, and means: Of uncertain derivation; Aharon, the brother of Moses: - Aaron. Total KJV occurrences: 347. Now from the Smiths Bible Dictionary, where we read: The son of Amram and Jochebed, and the older brother of Moses and Miriam Numbers 26:59; 33:39. He was a Levite, and is first mentioned in Exodus 4:14. He was appointed by YHVH to be the interpreter Exodus 4:16, of his brother Moses, who was slow of speech; and accordingly he was not only the organ of communication with the Israelites and with Pharaoh Exodus 4:30;7:20, but also the actual instrument of working most of the miracles of the Exodus Exodus 7:19, etc.. On the way to Mount Sinai, during the battle with Amalek, Aaron with Hur stayed up the weary hands of Moses when they were lifted up for the victory of Israel Exodus 17:9. He is mentioned as dependent upon his brother and deriving all his authority from him. Left, on Moses departure into Sinai, to guide the people, Aaron is tried for a moment on his own responsibility, and he fails from a weak inability to withstand the demand of the people for visible gods to go before them, by making an image of YHVH, in the well-known form of Egyptian idolatry (Apis or Mnevis). He repented of his sin, and Moses gained forgiveness for him Deuteronomy 9:20. Aaron was not consecrated by Moses to the new office of the high priesthood Exodus 29:9. From this time the history of Aaron is almost entirely that of the priesthood, and its chief feature is the great rebellion of Korah and the Levites. Leaning, as he seems to have done, wholly on Moses, it is not strange that he should have shared his sin at Meribah and its punishment. See Moses Numbers 20:10-12. Aarons death seems to have followed very speedily. It took place on Mount Hor, after the transference of his robes and office to Eleazar Numbers 20:28. This mount is still called the Mountain of Aaron. See Hor. The wife of Aaron was Elisheba Exodus 6:23, and the two sons who survived him Eleazar and Ithamar. The high priesthood descended to the former, and to his descendants until the time of Eli, who, although of the house of Ithamar, received the high priesthood and transmitted it to his children; with them it continued till the accession of Solomon, who took it from Abiathar and restored it to Zadok (of the house of Eleazar). See Abiathar..

I Chronicles 15:5 Of the sons of Kohath (to ally oneself; allied; or, assembly) (keh-hawthי); Uriel (flame of YAH; or, YAH is my light) (oo-ree-aleי) the chief, and his brethren an hundred and twenty:   —>
Beginning with this verse through verse 15:10, David will gather to himself the heads of the three families and then hell also gather the High Priestsremember, there were still twoZadok who had been with Saul, and Abiathar who had been with him while he was on the run from Saul, but later became dis-loyal to Davidat this timeand the Levites. These heads of the Tribes will be the Ark-carriers, of these Ark-carriers, 4 will be KohathitesUriel and 3 of his brethren1 will be a GersoniteJoeland 1 will be a MerariteAsaiah.

As we see here, of the Kohathites, it was Uriel and 120 of his brethren. Why so many? Because as well see, therell be a very large procession bringing Fathers Ark back to Jerusalem.

Kohath=Kohath was Levis second oldest son, younger than Gershon and older than Merrari. We also know that he had at least one sister whose name was Jochebed, and whom his son Amram will marry. (Think of the age difference between Levis daughter who married her nephew, Levis grandson, who bare Aaron, Miriam and Moses, that made Aaron, Miriam and Moses both Grand-children [grandchildren through Miriam] and great grand-children [great grand-children through Amram]) It was through Kohath, then to his son Aaron, that the High-Priest line would flow. The name Kohath and the Strongs Hebrew word number associated with it: H6955, are mentioned in 29 verses with 32 matches in Fathers Word, all of them are either of him in the genealogical listings, or of his descendantsthe Kohathites, H6956again, either in the genealogical listings, of them receiving their inheritance of land, or of them receiving their service of the Tabernacle. Of the man himself we know nothing about, except to say that he was part of the 70 Israelites who went down into Egypt to escape the famine which had encompassed all the land. We know that Kohaths father Levi was born in 1749B.C.; but we dont know how old he was when he sired Kohath, we know that Levi died in 1612B.C. at the age of 137, we also know that Kohath died when he was 133 years old; further, we know that Moses was born in the year 1571B.C., Levi only missed Moses birth by 41 years, so its very well possible that Kohath was alive during Moses birth; and, most likely for sure the birth(s) of Moses older sister and brother: Miriam and Aaron. Lets turn to Numbers 3 and read of the responsibility of Kohaths descendants concerning their Ministerial\Priestly Duties: Numbers 3:28 In the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, were eight thousand and six hundred, keeping the charge of the sanctuary.   —>   So, we see that the Kohathites charge was the Sanctuary, lets skip down to verse v3:31 and read what else was their charge: Numbers 3:31 And their charge shall be the ark, and the table, and the candlestick, and the altars, and the vessels of the sanctuary wherewith they minister, and the hanging, and all the service thereof.   —>   Their duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the sanctuary and the instruments thereof; but, they also have the responsibility for Fathers Ark. Whenever the encampment moves, these are all the things they are responsible for taking down, carrying and then setting up when they stop, plus carrying Fathers Ark. [3:32] And Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest shall be chief over the chief of the Levites, and have the oversight of them that keep the charge of the sanctuary.   —>   This is obviously after Eleazars fatherKohaths grandsonAaron had died and returned Home to Father. Eleazars duties and responsibilities include not only being a priest but, also he is to ensure that the sanctuary is properly taken care of. We know that Levis encampment as they came out of Egypt and wandered in the wilderness was in the midst of the camp, surrounded by all the other Tribes, Kohaths particular encampment was beside the Tabernacle, southward. We find while researching the etymology of the name Kohath that some commentators (New Open Bible Stusy Edition (NOBSE) Study Bible Name List, and the Jones Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names) relate this name to a root that may or may not be used in the Bible (yes, namely in Genesis 49:10, says Alfred Jones; no say most others) but which occurs in cognate languages: the verb קהת (qahath), meaning to collect or assemble. Others rumor about another unused root that means allegiance, or relations with the verb קהה (qaha), be blunt or dull, as used in Jeremiah 31:29 or Ecclesiastes 10:10. Jones Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names points towards the Shiloh prophecy of Genesis 49:10, one of two places in the Bible where the word קהת occurs not in the meaning of the name Kohath (the other being Proverbs 30:17). Jones generously translates this word here with gathering (and to him shall the gathering of the people be), but others are not so sure. The meaning of this word is somewhat disputed, reveals Harris Archer Waltke (HAW) Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament. Most popular translations derive it from the noun יקהה (yiqha), meaning obedience, from the assumed root יקה (yqh): The Septuagint, however, and with it some modern translations, connect this word to קוה (qawa), to wait for, hope, expect, and translate this word with expectation: The contexts of both occurrences of the illusive word קהת and thus the name Kohath, seem to favor the meaning of Obedience, which would also makes the most sense as meaning of the name of this famous Levite. For a meaning of the name Kohath, NOBSE Study Bible Name List appears to join Jones Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names, or goes with קוה (qawa) and reads Assembly. Jones Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names reads Congregation. Brown Driver Briggs (BDB) Theological Dictionary does not interpret our name and lists it alphabetically, and not under some specific root.. Now from the Strongs Concordance, where we find that it is Hebrew word number: H6955, - קְהָת, - qehâth, pronounced - keh-hawthי, and means: From an unused root meaning to ally oneself; allied; Kehath, an Israelite: - Kohath. Total KJV occurrences: 32.. Now from the Smiths Bible Dictionary where we read: Second of the three sons of Levi, from whom the three principal divisions of the Levites derived their origin and their name Genesis 46:11; Exodus 6:16. In the journeyings of the tabernacle of the sons of Kohath (Kohathites) had charge of the most holy portions of the vessels Numbers 4:1. ... Of the personal history of Kohath we know nothing, except that he came down to Egypt with Levi and Jacob, Genesis 46:11 that his sister was Jochebed, Exodus 6:20 and that he lived to the age of 133 years Exodus 6:18..

Uriel=Uriel was a Levite and head of the KohathitesI Chronicles 15:5during the time of Davids bringing Fathers Ark from the house of Obed-edom, where it had been sitting after Father struck Uriah dead for reaching out his hand to steady It when they had illegally put It on an ox cart to transport It as can be read in II Samuel 5 and I Chronicles 13 The etymology of the name Uriel consists of two (or rather: three) elements, the final one being אל (EL), the common abbreviation of ELOHIMfrom Dr. Bullingers Companion Bible Appendices: ELOHIMthe genus God, Father in His role of Creator of All things. The first part of our name comes from the common verb אור ss(יor), meaning to be or give light: The letter י (yod) that ties the two primary elements together creates a possessive form out of the אור-part, meaning either my light or light of. For a meaning of the name Uriel, New Open Bible Study Edition (NOBSE) Study Bible Name List appears to ignore the central yod and reads God Is Light. Jones Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names proposes Light Of God. Brown Driver Briggs (BDB) Theological Dictionary demonstrates both explanations of the central yod and has Flame Of El or My Light Is El.. Now from the Strongs Concordance, where we find that it is Hebrew word number: H222, - אוּרִיאֵל, - 'ûrı̂y'êl, pronounced - oo-ree-aleי, and means: From H217 and H410; Flame of YAH; Uriel, the name of two Israelites: - Uriel. Total KJV occurrences: 4.. Now from the Eastons Bible Dictionary, where we read: (God is my light) A Levite of the family of Kohath I Chronicles 6:24. The chief of the Kohathites at the time when the ark was brought up to Jerusalem I Chronicles 15:5,11..

I Chronicles 15:6 Of the sons of Merari (bitter; and, bitter) (mer-aw-reeי); Asaiah (YAH has made; or, YHVH hath made) (aw-saw-yawי) the chief, and his brethren two hundred and twenty:   —>
As I said in verse v15:5 above, Asaiah is the man from the Tribe of Merari wholl be the Ark-carrier. Two hundred and twenty of his brethren from the Tribe of Merari are part of the procession.

Merari=Merari was the youngest son of Levi, he was brother to 2 other sons, Gershon and Kohath, and 1 sister Jochebed. There are 38 verses with 39 matches in Fathers Word for the name Merari and its associated Strongs Hebrew word number: H4847, all of them are either of him in the genealogical listings, or of his descendantsthe Merarites H4847again, either in the genealogical listings, of them receiving their inheritance of land, or of them receiving their service of the Tabernacle. Of the man Merari himself, we know nothing about, except to say that he was part of the 70 Israelites who went down into Egypt to escape the famine which had encompassed all the land. We dont know when he died and returned Home to Father, or what age he was when he did so. Lets turn to Numbers 3 and read of the responsibility of Meraris descendants concerning their ministerial\priestly duties: Numbers 3:36 And under the custody and charge of the sons of Merari shall be the boards of the tabernacle, and the bars thereof, and the pillars thereof, and the sockets thereof, and all the vessels thereof, and all that serveth thereto, [3:37] And the pillars of the court round about, and their sockets, and their pins, and their cords.   —>   The duties and responsibilities of the Merarites are the safeguarding, setting up and taking down, and carrying of the boards for the tabernacle, the bars of the tent and doors etc., in other words, all the wood items and fasteners, plus all the tie back fasteners for holding the cloth doors open concerning the tent and the court thereof belong to the Merarites. Again, we can see the number of and(s) within these two versesjust like in Genesis 1and can know that they are a polysyndeton, meaning there is much more than just what is being said in these verses. We know that Meraris father, Levis encampment as they came out of Egypt and wandered in the wilderness was in the midst of the camp, surrounded by all the other Tribes, Meraris particular encampment was beside the Tabernacle, northward. The etymology of the name Merari looks like it has to do with the verb מרר (marar) meaning be bitter, strengthen, strong: The letter yod on which our name Merari ends may be due to a possessive form, and the name Merari may mean My Bitterness or My Strength. For a meaning of the name Merari, New Open Bible Study Edition (NOBSE) Study Bible Name List reads Bitter. Jones Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names reads Bitterness.. Now from the Strongs Concordance, where we find that it is Hebrew word number: H4847, - מְרָרִי, - merârı̂y, pronounced - mer-aw-reeי; and means: From H4843, bitter; Merari, an Israelite: - Merari. See also H4848. Total KJV occurrences: 39.. Now from the Smiths Bible Dictionary, where we read: Third son of Levi and head of the third great division of the Levites, the Merarites Genesis 46:8,11. At the time of the exodus and the numbering in the wilderness, the Merarites consisted of two families, the Mahlites and the Mushites, Mahli and Mushi being either the two sons of the son and grandson of Merari I Chronicles 6:19,47. Their chief at that time was Zuriel. Their charge was the cords of the tabernacle and the court, and all the tools connected with setting them up. In the division of the land by Joshua, the merarites had twelve cities assigned to them, out of Reuben, Gad and Zebulun Joshua 21:7; 34-40; I Chronicles 6:63; 77-81. In the days of Hezekiah the Merarites were still flourishing II Chronicles 29:12,15..

Asaiah=Asaiah was a Levite and head of the MeraritesI Chronicles 15:5during the time of Davids bringing Fathers Ark from the house of Obed-edom, where it had been sitting after Father struck Uriah dead for reaching out his hand to steady It when they had illegally put It on an ox cart to transport It as can be read in II Samuel 5 and I Chronicles 13. Asaiah was the eighth descended from Marari, and was the last in the line. The etymology of the name Asaiah comes from the root-verb עשה ss(יasa), meaning to do or make: The inserted letter י (yod) ostensibly creates the familiar יה, which would immediately be recognized as a truncated form of the Tetragrammaton יהוה, YHVHfrom Dr. Bullingers Companion Bible Appendices: YHVHor Yahveh, the sacred and personal name of Father. This appellation may be regarded as being superimposed on the verb, swallowing up the second ה. For a meaning of the name Asaiah, New Open Bible Study Edition (NOBSE) Study Bible Name List reads Yahveh Has Made. Jones Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names proposes Made Of Yahveh.. Now from the Strongs Concordance, where we find that it is Hebrew word number: H6222, - עֲשָׂיָה, - ‛ăśâyâh, pronounced - (aw-saw-yawי, and means: From H6213 and H3050; YAH has made; Asajah, the name of three or four Israelites: - Asaiah. Total KJV occurrences: 8.. Now from the Smiths Bible Dictionary, where we read: (the Lord hath made). A Levite in the reign of David, chief of the family of Merari I Chronicles 6:30. With 120 of his brethren he took part in bringing the ark from the house of Obed-edom to the city of David I Chronicles 15:6,11..

I Chronicles 15:7 Of the sons of Gershom (a refugee; or, exile) (gay-resh-omeי); Joel (YHVH (is his) God; or, to whom YHVH is God) (yo-aleי) the chief, and his brethren an hundred and thirty:   —>
Joel is the man who is the head of the Tribe of Gershom at this time in Israels history, and hell be the Ark-carrier for the Tribe of Gershom. One hundred thirty of his brethren from the Tribe of Gershom will also take part in this procession bringing Fathers Ark into Israels Capital and Fathers most favorite place in all His created universe.

Gershon=Gershon was Levis first born son with his wife whose name is never mentioned in Fathers Word. Gershon is mentioned in 18 verses with 18 matches in Fathers Word, for the name and Strongs Hebrew word associated with it: H1648; all of them are either of him in the genealogical listings, or of his descendantsthe Gershonites H1649again, either in the genealogical listings, of them receiving their inheritance of land, or of them receiving their service of the Tabernacle. Of the man himself we know nothing about, except to say that he was part of the 70 Israelites who went down into Egypt to escape the famine which had encompassed all the land. We dont know when he died and returned Home to Father, or what age he was when he did so. Lets turn to Numbers 3 and read of the responsibility of Gershons descendants concerning their Ministerial\Priestly Duties: Numbers 3:25 And the charge of the sons of the Gershon in the tabernacle of the congregation shall be the tabernacle, and the tent, and the covering thereof, and the hanging for the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. Numbers 3:26 And the hangings of the court, and the curtain for the door of the court, which is by the tabernacle, and by the altar round about, and the cords of it for all the service thereof.   —>   The duties and responsibilities of the Gershonites were the safeguarding, the setting up and taking down, and the carrying of the tent, and of all the coverings of the tent and doors etc.; in other words, all the canvas\cloth items concerning the tent and thereof belong to the Gershonites. We can see the number of and(s) within these two versesjust like in Genesis 1, and many other places throughout Fathers Wordand can know that they are a polysyndeton; meaning, there is much more than just what is being said in these verses. We know that Levis encampment as they came out of Egypt and wandered in the wilderness was in the midst of the camp, surrounded by all the other Tribes, Gershon particular encampment was behind the Tabernacle, westward. The etymology of the name Gershon is probably the same name as Gershom, derived of the verb גרש (garash), meaning to drive or cast out: The waw-nun extension denotes a personification of the root. Gershon means Expelled One or Exiled One, and the meaning may have more to do with the fact that he\his descendants were surpassed in fame by the younger brethren of Kohath, from whom descended Moses and Aaron, and then of course, the line of Fathers Priests.. Now from the Strongs Concordance, where we find that it is Hebrew word number: H1648, - גֵּרְשׁוֹן, or גֵּרְשׁוֹם, - gêreshôn, or gêreshôm, pronounced - gay-resh-omeי, or gay-resh-oneי, and means: From H1644; a refugee; Gereshon or Gereshom, an Israelite: - Gershon, Gershom. Total KVJ occurrences: 18.. Now from the Smiths Bible Dictionary, where we read: The eldest of the three sons of Levi, born before the descent of Jacobs family into Egypt Genesis 46:11; Exodus 6:16. But, though the eldest born, the families of Gershon were outstripped in fame by their younger brethren of Kohath, from whom sprang Moses and the priestly line of Aaron..

Joel=Joel was a Gershonite Levite, the son of Jehieli, brother to ZethamI Chronicles 26:22and appears to have been the last in this line. He was head of the Gershonites during the time of Davids bringing Fathers Ark from the house of Obed-edomI Chronicles 15:5where it had been sittingfor three months I Chronicles 13:14 after Father struck Uriah dead for reaching out his hand to steady It when our forefathers had illegally put It on an ox cart to transport It as can be read in II Samuel 5 and I Chronicles 13. We read in I Chronicles 26:22 that he and his brother Zetham were also over Fathers treasures. The etymology of the name Joel is most commonly interpreted to be a combination of two elements. The first element is יה (Yah) = יהו (Yahu) = יו (Yu), which in turn are abbreviated forms of the Tetragrammaton יהוה, YHVHfrom Dr. Bullingers Companion Bible Appendices: YHVHor Yahveh, the sacred and personal name of Father. The second element of the name Joel is אל, ELfrom Dr. Bullingers Companion Bible Appendices: ELthe abbreviated form of אלהים, ELOHIMfrom Dr. Bullingers Companion Bible Appendices: ELOHIMdenoting the genus God, Father in His Role of Creator of all things. The name Joel is the name Elijah reversed and means Yah Is El, or Yahveh Is Elohim, or The Lord Is God. However, in cognate languages this name exists as well, but means something else. That something else also exists in Hebrew, namely the verb יאל (yaיal): The past tense forms of the two verbs יאל are identical to the name Joel (see for instance Exodus 2:21, Joshua 17:12, etc). Hence the name Joel also means He Was Foolish, He Was Willing/Determined. For a meaning of the name Joel, New Open Bible Study Edition (NOBSE) Study Bible Name List reads Yahveh Is God. Jones Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names reads Lord Of God, The Lord Is God.. A Gershonite Levite in the reign of David, son of Jehiel, a descendant of Laadan I Chronicles 23:8; 26:22my note here, Laadan is also called Libni in I Chronicles 6:17. I Chronicles 15:8 Of the sons of Elizaphan (YAH of treasure; or, whom YAH protects) (el-ee-tsaw-fawnי); Shemaiah (YAH has heard; or, heard by YHVH) (shem-aw-yawי-hoo) the chief, and his brethren two hundred:   —>   Elizaphan was a grandson of Kohath, his fathers name was Uzziel. So, that makes this Shemaiah a Kohathite and he is the man who is the head of the Tribe of Kohaths grandson Elizaphans line. Hell be another Ark-carrier for the Tribe of Kohath. Two hundred of his brethren from the Line of Elizaphan will also take part in this procession bringing Fathers Ark into the City of David.
Elizaphan
Elizaphan =Elizaphan was the brother to a man named Mishael and the second son of Uzziela son of Levis middle son Kohath and brother of Amram, the father of Miriam, Aaron and Mosesthus making Elizaphan the cousin of Miriam, Aaron and Moses. When Father struck Aarons sons Nadab and Abihu deadfor their allowing His perpetual fire to go out when they were celebrating after their just having been consecrated, the father of Miriam, and they thought they could get away with re-lighting Fathers fire by using ox dungotherwise known as offering strange fireas can be read in Leviticus 10:4Moses called for Elizaphan and his older brother Mishael to remove Nadab and Abihus dead carcasses from the camp. By the time of Father ordering the census of the Levites as our forefathers were wandering the wilderness and making their way toward the Promised Land after the exodus from Egypt, as can be read in Numbers 3:30, Elzaphanwhose name was now spelled Elizaphan and will be spelled this way throughout the rest of Fathers Word, Numbers 34:25; I Chronicles 15:8, and II Chronicles 29:13had become the head of a separate order of the Kohathitesthey would not be in the High Priest line, but they would bealong with their other cousins of the sons of Kohaths sons: Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzzielthe bearers of Fathers Ark and of His Holy things. Many centuries later, during the reign and rule of king DavidI Chronicles 15:8Elizaphans descendant Shemaiahwho was now the chief of the orderand his brethrenwhose number were 200were assigned to assist in bringing Fathers Ark from the house of Obed-edom to Jerusalem. Three plus centuries later, during the reign and rule of king Hezekiah, Elizaphans descendants Shimri and Jeiel were assigned with the Levitical Singers and several other Levites to cleanse and sanctify Fathers House after Hezekiahs father Ahaz had defiled it as we read in II Chronicles 29:13-19. For the etymology of the name Elizaphan, we read the following in Abarim Publications: The name Elizaphan consists of two elements, the first one being אל (EL)from Dr. Bullingers Companion Bible Appendix 4 ELthe abbreviated form of אלהים, ELOHIMfrom Dr. Bullingers Companion Bible Appendix 4 ELOHIMdenoting the genus God, in other words, Father in His Role of Creator of all things. The second part of our names comes from the verb צפן (sapan), meaning to hide or store up: For a meaning of the name Elizaphan, New Open Bible Study Edition (NOBSE) Study Bible Name List reads God Has Concealed. Shemaiah=A Kohath Levite in the time of David, who with 200 of his brethren, took part in the bringing up of Fathers Ark from Obed-edoms house to Jerusalem. Hebron was a grandson of Levi, Levis son Kohath was his father. So, that obviously makes this Eliel a Kohathite and he is the man who is the head of the Tribe of Kohaths son Hebrons line. Hell be another Ark-carrier for the Tribe of Kohath. Eighty of his brethren from the Line of Hebron will also take part in this procession bringing Fathers Ark into Israels Capital City: Jerusalem.

Hebron=Grandson to Levi, son to Kohath, brother to Amram, Izhar and Uzziel, and uncle to Miriam, Aaron and Moses. Born to Kohath while our forefathers were still in captivity to Egypt before the exodus.  There are 68 verses with 73 matches for the name Hebron and the Strongs Hebrew word number H2275 associated with it in Fathers Word; however, most of those listings are for the city Hebron, not for Kohaths son Hebron. As such, we know virtually nothing of the man. The etymology of the name Hebron comes from the root-verb חבר (habar), meaning to join: The on-part of the name Hebron comes from the standard waw-nun extension that personifies or localizes the idea or action of a root. For a meaning of the name Hebron, Jones Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names proposes Confederation. Brown Drive Briggs (BDB) Theological Dictionary suggests Association or League. Eliel=Eliel was a Kohath Levite during the reign of king David, who was one of Fathers Ark-carriers and who along with 80 of his fellow Hebronites, took part in the bringing up of Fathers Ark from Obed-edoms house to Jerusalem. The etymology of the name Eliel consists of twice the name אל, ELfrom Dr. Bullingers Companion Bible Appendices: ELthe abbreviated form of אלהים, ELOHIMfrom Dr. Bullingers Companion Bible Appendices: ELOHIMdenoting the genus God, in other words, Father in His Role of Creator of all things. In between these two instances of אל (El) sits the letter י (yod), which in this case probably turns the first El into a possessive form: my El, or El of. It may also serve as a conjunction between the two, which in effect would function as equalizer and may be translated with is. The name Eliel obviously makes playful use of the double function of the name or word אל, which serves both as the proper name El, and as general indicator of divinity or even strength, comparable to our words god or mighty-one. For a meaning of the name Eliel, New Open Bible Study Edition (NOBSE) Study Bible Name List reads God Is God. Jones Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names proposes To Whom God Is God or, alternatively Strength Of Strength. —>   Uzziel was a grandson of Levi, Levis second son Kohath was his father. Therefore, that obviously makes this Amminadab a Kohathite and he is the man who is the head of the Tribe of Kohaths son Uzziels line. Hell be another Ark-carrier for the Tribe of Kohath. One hundred twelve of his brethren from the Line of Uzziel will also take part in this procession bringing Fathers Ark into the city of David.

Uzziel=Grandson to Levi, son to Kohath, brother to Amram, Izhar and Hebron, and uncle to Miriam, Aaron and Moses. Born to Kohath while our forefathers were still in captivity to Egypt before the exodus. There are 16 verses with 16 matches for the name Uzziel and the Strongs Hebrew word number H5816 associated with it in Fathers Word, all of them are in the genealogical listings, or of his sons, or of other men named Uzziel; therefore, we know nothing of the man named uzziel. The etymology of the name Uzziel is a compilation of two elements. The final part is equal to the name ELfrom Dr. Bullingers Companion Bible Appendices: ELthe abbreviated form of אלהים, ELOHIMfrom Dr. Bullingers Companion Bible Appendices: ELOHIMdenoting the genus God, in other words, Father in His Role of Creator of all things: The first part of the name Uzziel comes from the Hebrew verb עזז (’azaz), meaning to be strong: The yod in the middle is probably a possessive; my strength, or strength of. Amminadab=The only thing we know of Amminadab is that he was a Kohath Levite during king Davids reign over the House of Israel, and he was one of Fathers Ark-carriers and who along with 112 of his fellow Uzzielites, took part in the bringing up of Fathers Ark from Obed-edoms house to Jerusalem. The etymology of the name Amminadab consists of two elements. The first part of our name comes from the unused root עמםss(יmm): The second part of the name Amminadab comes from the root-verb נדב (nadab), meaning to make willing or entice: For a meaning of the name Amminadab, Jones Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names goes with the free-will clause of the verb נדב and reads People of Liberality. The New Open Bible Study Edition (NOBSE) Study Bible Name List and Brown Driver Briggs (BDB) Theological Dictionary follow the idea of nobility of the verb, and reads My Kinsman Is Noble.. I Chronicles 15:11 And David called for Zadok (just; and, just) (tsaw-dokeי) and Abiathar (father of abundance (that is, liberal); and, father of abundance, i.e. liberal) (eb-yaw-thawrי) the priests, and for the Levites, for Uriel, Asaiah, and Joel, Shemaiah, and Eliel, and Amminadab,   —>   David called for Zadok and Abiathar=
Strangely, at this time, both Zadok and Abiathar were High Priests. I say strangely because, normally there would only be one High Priest as that was what Father commanded and demanded however, while Saul was king over the Nation, Zadok had been the High Priest but, with David being anointed as the next man king over the Nation, and, with Saul having killed Abiathars father and eighty-five of Fathers priests, Abiathar escaped and came to David while he was at the cave Adullam and therefore, David made him High Priest over he and those with him.

Anyway, David gathered to himself, all those who would be leaders and in charge over this large procession of People bringing Fathers Ark from Obed-edoms house to be with His People: Israel.

Zadok=Ahitubs son Zadok was the tenth descendant in the Priest line from Aaron, and he was great, great, great, great, great-grandfather to another High Priest named Zadok. There are 46 verses with 49 matches for the name Zadok and its associated Strongs Hebrew word number: H6659 in Fathers Word. Zadok was one of two Priests during the reign of king David, the other being Abiathar who was the son of Ahimelech, son of Ahitub, son of Phinehas, son of Eli, the High Priest who raised and guided the Judge Samuel. Zadok was part of the band of mighty menhelpers of war, as it is written in I Chronicles 12:1who joined onto David as he was in Ziklag, keeping himself close to Saul; but, far enough away to stay safe. Zadok remained true to David during Absaloms rebellion and for his loyalty, he rewarded with retaining his high and holy office till his death. Zadok was the founder of an important part of the Priesthood, and from Solomons time his descendants constituted the most prominent family among the order of priests. The etymology of the name Zadok comes from the verb צדק ( sadeq), meaning to be just: For a meaning of the name Zadok, New Open Bible Study Edition (NOBSE) Study Bible Name List reads Righteous. Jones Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names has Just. And Brown Driver Briggs (BDB) Theological Dictionary says Just, righteous.. Now from the Strongs Concordance, where we find that it is Hebrew word number: H6659, - צָדוֹק, - tsâdôq, pronounced - tsaw-dokeי, and means: From H6663; just; Tsadok, the name of eight or nine Israelites: - Zadok. Total KJV occurrences: 53.. Now from the Smiths Bible Dictionary, where we read: Son of Ahitub, and one of the two chief priests in the time of David and Solomon, Abiathar being the other. Zadok was of the house of Eleazar the son of Aaron I Chronicles 24:3, and eleventh in descent from Aaron I Chronicles 12:28. He joined David at Hebron after Saul's death I Chronicles 12:28, and thenceforth his fidelity to David was inviolable. When Absalom revolted and David fled from Jerusalem, Zadok and all the Levites bearing the ark accompanied him. When Absalom was dead, Zadok and Abiathar were the persons who persuaded the elders of Judah to invite David to return II Samuel 19:11. When Adonijah, in David's old age, set up for king, and had persuaded Joab, and Abiathar the priest, to join his party, Zadok was unmoved, and was employed by David to anoint Solomon to be king in his room I Kings 1:34. For this fidelity he was rewarded by Solomon who "thrust out Abiathar from being priest unto the Lord," and "put in Zadok the priest" in his room I Kings 2:27,35. From this time, however, we hear little of him. Zadok and Abiathar were of nearly equal dignity II Samuel 15:35-36; 19:11. The duties of the office were divided, Zadok ministered before the tabernacle at Gibeon I Chronicles 16:39, Abiathar had the care of the ark at Jerusalem..

Abiathar=Abiathar was the son of Ahimelech, the son of Ahitub. He was fourth in descent from Eli and approximately twelfth from Aaron, from Aarons son Eleazar. Abiathar is the only one who was able to escape and then flee to David at the cave of Adullam when Saul had Doeg the Edomite slaughter his father and eighty-five priests at Nob. He went back to Jerusalem with the Ark when David fled from his own son Absalom who was tryi9ng to over-throw him as king. Sadly, after his fleeing to David and then assisting David while he was on the run from both Saul and then Absalom, he later conspired and rebelled against David in order to make Davids son Adonijah king in Davids old age against Fathers anointed: Solomon. Solomon spared his life for the sake of his first love, but dismissed him from office for his treachery at his last. For a time, he was joint high-priest with Zadok. The etymology of the name Abiathar consists of two elements. The first part of the name Abiathar comes from the familiar word אב, meaning father: The second part of the name Abiathar comes from the magnificent root יתר, meaning to remain or be a rest of some larger collective: For a meaning of the name Abiathar, New Open Bible Study Edition (NOBSE) Study Bible Name List reads Father Of Preeminence. Jones Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names reads Father Of Plenty. Brown Driver Briggs (BDB) Theological Dictionary reads The Great One Is Father.. Total KJV occurrences: 31.. Now from the Smiths Bible Dictionary, where we read: High priest and fourth in descent from Eli. Abiathar was the only one of the all the sons of Ahimelech the High Priest who escaped the slaughter inflicted upon his fathers house by Saul. Abiathar having become high priest, was thus enabled to inquire of the Lord for him in I Samuel 23:9; 30:7; II Samuel 2:1; and 5:19) etc. He adheres to David in his wanderings while being pursued by Saul; he will be with him while he reigns in Hebron, and afterwards in Jerusalem II Samuel 2:1-3. He will continue to be faithful to David during his son Absaloms rebellion II Samuel 15:24,29,35-36; 17:15-17; and 19:11. When, however, Adonijah sets himself up for Davids successor on the throne, in opposition to Solomon, Abiathar sides with him, while Zadok was on Solomons side. For this, Abiathar will be deprived of the high priesthood. Zadok joins David at Hebron I Chronicles 12:28, so that there will be henceforth two High Priests during the reign of David, and until the deposition of Abiathar by Solomon, when Zadok becomes the sole High Priest..

I Chronicles 15:12 And said unto them, Ye are the chief of the fathers of the Levites: sanctify yourselves, both ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel unto the place that I have prepared for it.   —>   In addressing these eight identified leaders, the unnamed Levites and Priests, David tells them to not only wash themselves and their clothes but, to also avoid anything which would defile themselves so as to not make them unbefitting when approaching or coming near unto the Holiness and Presence of Father through His Ark.

I Chronicles 15:13 For because ye did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.  —>
This was both the Priestsand Im going to have to lay blame where it belongsDavids fault as well as, had he written out his own copy of Fathers Law as he was supposed to have, they all would have avoided the embarrassment they suffered and the death of Uzzah.

I lay the blame right and rightfully where it belongs howerver, with that being said and done, I must also say that in a sense, it is not totally their fault as, had their predecessors not taken Fathers Ark into battle without first seeking Him and whether they should (1) go to battle against the Philistines and (2) take His Ark into battle with them, they would have avoided being in the position they find themselves in, and, they would have had The Law with them in order to have been able to write-out their own copy of The Law.

The due order=The due order being, according as Father had chronicled and detailed how His Holy things were to be handled as we read in Numbers 4:1-20 when we read verse v15:2 above.

I Chronicles 15:14 So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel.   —>   David here is doing his best to ensure that nothing else goes wrongi.e., that they are in compliance with and following Fathers instructions that only the Levitesand for the most part, only the Kohathiteshandle, touch and move Fathers Holy things and bear His Ark on their shouldersso as to not offend Father. How will that turn out? Lets continue reading and find out.

I Chronicles 15:15 And the children of the Levites bare the ark of God upon their shoulders with the staves thereon, as Moses commanded according to the word of the LORD.   —>   The staves are in, the Kohathitesand the GershoniteJoeland MerariteAsaiahbare Fathers Ark on their shoulders and are all ready to carry It to Its rightful place among and in the midst of Fathers People: Israel in His and their Capital City Jerusalem.

I Chronicles 15:16 And David spake to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brethren to be the singers with instruments of musick, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding, by lifting up the voice with joy.   —>   David had gathered the heads of the Levites and told them to select from their fellow Levites, those who would lead the procession and the House of Israel in all sorts of Father Honoring, Serving and worshiping music.

Singers=Lets check this word out in our Stongs Concordance brethren as, the word as David used it, doesnt quite have the same meaning as we use it today in the twenty-first century. We find that it is Hebrew word number: H7891, - שִׁיר or שׁוּר, - shı̂yr or shûr, pronounced – sheer or shoor, and means: The second form being the original form, used in (I Samuel 18:6); A primiative root (rather identical with H7788 through the idea of strolling minstrelsy); to sing: - behold [by mistake for H7789], sing (-er, -ing man, -ing woman). Total KJV occurrences: 86.. So, as we see, as David used the word Singers, he was meaning more to lead the processional stroll with song than he was about lifting their voices in song.

Cymbals=Cymbals were used not only for the making of music, but also for the sounding of defense and other signals in Israel. Women were also very adept with using cymbals, they used them in their dance routines.

I Chronicles 15:17 So the Levites appointed Heman (faithful; and, faithful) (hay-mawnי) the son of Joel (YHVH (is his) God; and, to whom YHVH is God) (yo-aleי); and of his brethren, Asaph (collector; and, collector of the people) (aw-sawfי) the son of Berechiah (knee (that is, blessing) of YAH ; and, blessed of YHVH) (beh-rek-yawי-hoo); and of the sons of Merari their brethren, Ethan (permanent; and, enduring) (ay-thawnי) the son of Kushaiah (entrapped of YAH; and, bow of YAH) (koo-shaw-yawי-hoo);   —>   The Levites selected one man from each of the three sons or tribes of Levi: Gershon, Kohath and Merari to lead the procession in song. From the Tribe of Gershon they selected Asaph, a man well known throughout the Psalms; from the tribe of Kohath they selected Heman, a grandson of Samuel; and from the tribe of Merari they selected Ethan, who was also known as Jeduthun.

Heman=Heman was the son of Joel and grandson of Samuel. He was known for his being one of the musicianshe was called a singer in I Chronicles 6:33; I Chronicles 15:19; II Chronicles 5:12; and II Chronicles 35:15during the return of Fathers Ark from the house of Obed-edom to JerusalemIsraels Capital City and Fathers most favorite place in all His Created Universeduring Davids bringing It to Its rightful place among our forefathers. He is identified as being a seer in the words of God in I Chronicles 25:5, where Fathers Word also mentions that he had fourteen sons and three unnamed daughters. The etymology of the name Heman appears to derive of the Chaldean adjective מהימן, which comes from a verb that is a close cognate of the Hebrew verb אמןss(יaman), meaning to support or confirm: For a meaning of the name Heman, the usually discordant New Open Bible Study Edition (NOBSE) Study Bible Name List, Jones Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names and Brown Driver Briggs (BDB) Theological Dictionary all read Faithful. The word הימן occurs once in the narrative of the Bible, namely in Daniel 6:23, with the meaning of He Trusted.. Now from the Strongs Concordance, where we find that it is Hebrew word number: H1968, - הֵימָן, - hêymân, pronounced - hay-mawnי, and means: Probably from H530; faithful; Heman, the name of at least two Israelites: - Heman. Total KJV occurrences: 17.. Now from the Smiths Bible Dictionary, where we read: (faithful) Son of Joel and grandson of Samuel the prophet, a Kohathite. He is called the singer, rather the musician I Chronicles 6:33, and was the first of the three Levites to whom was committed the vocal and instrumental music of the temple service in the reign of David I Chronicles 15:16-22. The 88th Psalm is ascribed to him..

Joel=Also called Vashni in I Chronicles 6:28. A Kohathite Levite. He was the elder son of Samuel, older brother to Abiah, and father to Heman the Levitical singer during the reign of David. Sadly, Joel and his brother Abiah did just as Elis sons Hopni and Phinehas, the difference between the two sets of boys was, that, Father recalled Elis sons Home to Him; however, He did not do that with Samuels sons, instead, giving the Nation of the House of Israel a man king to rule over them. What were Joel and Abiah doing? They perverted judgment, in other words, they stooped to taking bribes and extorting money from the people; thus, accepting unjust and ungodly; or, ill-gotten gains from the People. It was partly because of these actions of Joel and Abiah, and Samuels lack of disciplining them for it, that the People demanded of Samuel to put a man king to rule over them instead of he and his sons. I say partly because; in reality, it was Father who they were rejecting, and our forefathers had rejected Father and His rule over them since He brought them up out of their bondage to the Egyptians. They had objected to and rejected Moses, Joshua, every Judge and Priest Father had appointed over them, and now, they were demanding of Samuel, another man because he and his sons had let them down. What they really wanted; sadly, was to be left alone to serve the heathen gods of the people all around them. Bullingers Companion Bible Appendices: ELOHIMdenoting the genus GodFather in His Role of Creator of all things. The name Joel is the name Elijah reversed and means Yah Is El, or Yahveh Is Elohim, or The Lord Is God. However, in cognate languages this name exists as well, but means something else. That something else also exists in Hebrew, namely the verb יאל (yaיal ): The past tense forms of the two verbs יאל are identical to the name Joel (see for instance Exodus 2:21, Joshua 17:12, etc). Hence the name Joel also means He Was Foolish, He Was Willing/
Determined. For a meaning of the name Joel, New Open Bible Study Edition (NOBSE) Study Bible Name List reads Yahveh Is God. Jones Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names reads Lord Of God, The Lord Is God.. Now from the Strongs Concordance, where we find that it is Hebrew word number: H3100, - יוֹאֵל, - yô'êl, pronounced - yo-aleי, and means: From H3068 and H10; YHVH [is his] God; Joel, the name of twelve Israelites: - Joel. Asaph=A Gershonite Levite, the son of Berechiah. He was one of the leaders of Davids Choir during the bringing up of Fathers Ark out of the house of Obed-edom after Father had struck Uzzah dead for reaching out his hand to steady It as It was possibly about to tumble off the ox-drawn cart It was being transported on as read in II Samuel 5 and I Chronicles 13. Other things we know of Asaph from Fathers Word inc lude the following: (1) David called him a seer in II Chronicles 29:30; and (2) he was known for being both, a musical composer and as being the author of twelve cannonized Psalms, Psalms 50, and 73 through 80. The etymology of the name Asaph is a direct derivative of the verb אסף (asap), meaning to gather or collect: For a meaning of the name Asaph, both New Open Bible Study Edition (NOBSE) Study Bible Name List and Jones Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names read Collector. Brown Driver Briggs (BDB) Theological Dictionary has Gatherer.. Now from the Strongs Concordance, we find it is Hebrew number: H623, - אסף, - ssיAsâph, pronounced - Aw-sawfי, and means: From H622; collector, Asaph, the name of three Israelites, and of the family of the first: - Asaph. Berechiah=The only thing(s) we know of Berechiah are this\these: he was the father of Asaph, and most likely, he was also a doorkeeper, gatekeeper or porter for Fathers Ark after David and the procession he led brought It up to Jerusalem. Total KJV occurrences: 11.. Now from the Smiths Bible Dictionary, where we read: (blessed of Jehovah). A doorkeeper for the ark I Chronicles 15:23. Father of Asaph the singer I Chronicles 15:17..

Ethan=A Merarite Levite, son of Kishi which was short for Kushaiah, think of Dick for Richard or Bill for William. Ethan was one of the Levitical singers in Davids Choir during the bringing up of Fathers Ark out of the house of Obed-edom after Father had struck Uzzah dead for reaching out his hand to steady It as It was possibly about to tumble off the ox-drawn cart It was being transported on as read in II Samuel 5 and I Chronicles 13, though Ethans role was as a cymbal sounder. The etymology of the name Ethan is identical to the adjective איתן (etan), meaning ever-flowing or perennial: For a meaning of the name Ethan, New Open Bible Study Edition (NOBSE) Study Bible Name List reads Perpetuity. Jones Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names takes the idea of perpetuity and interprets it according to its application in describing the perpetuity of cities and nations. Hence Jones reads the rather liberal Firmness.. Now from the Strongs Concordance, where we find that it is Hebrew word number: H387, - אֵיתָן, - 'êythân, pronounced - ay-thawnי, and means: The same as H386; permanent; Ethan, the name of four Israelites: - Ethan. Son of Kishi or Kushaiah; a Merarite Levite, head of that family in the time of King David I Chronicles 6:44, and spoken of as a singer. With Heman and Asaph, the heads of the other two families of Levites, Ethan was appointed to sound with cymbals I Chronicles 15:17,19..

Kushaiah=Also known by his shorter name of Kushi. A Merarite Levite, the son of Abdi, and father to the Levitical singer Ethan of I Chronicles 15:17. The Etymology of the name Kushaiah consists of two elements, the final one of these is יה (Yah) = יהו (Yahu) = יו (Yu), which in turn are abbreviated forms of the Tetragrammaton יהוה, YHVHfrom Dr. Bullingers Companion Bible Appendices: YHVHor Yahveh, the sacred and personal name of Father. The first part of our name comes from the verb קוש (qush), meaning to lay bait or lure (or to snare): For a meaning of the name Kushaiah, New Open Bible Study Edition (NOBSE) Study Bible Name List reads a rather fantastic Bow Of Yahveh and adds that is rainbow. Jones Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names proposes Snaring Of The Lord. Brown Driver Briggs (BDB) Theological Dictionary doesnt interpret or translate our name.. Now from the Strongs Concordance, where we find that it is Hebrew word number: H6984, - קוּשָׁיָהוּ, - qûshâyâhû, pronounced - koo-shaw-yawי-hoo, and means: From the passive particle of H6983 and H3050; entrapped of YAH; Kushajah, an Israelite: - Kushaiah. Total KJV occurrences: 1.. Now from the Smiths Bible Dictionary, where we read: (bow of Yehveh). The same as Kish or Kishi, the father of Ethan the Merarite I Chronicles 15:17..

I Chronicles 15:18 And with them their brethren of the second degree, Zechariah, Ben, and Jaaziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, Eliab, and Benaiah, and Maaseiah, and Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obededom, and Jeiel, the porters.   —>   Ill not be giving a detailed description of each of the men mentioned in this and some of the next few verses.

Second degree=In other words, the second rank of musicians.

Porters=Well be reading more of these porters when we come to I Chronicles 26. These porters were the doorkeepers, and/or security forces for Fathers Temple. Some might question why Fathers Temple would need security but, I can think of several reasons and right off the top of my head, because of all the funds which were taken into the Treasuries.

I Chronicles 15:19 So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were appointed to sound with cymbals of brass;   —>   These three men were the leaders of the musical procession and as such, in their role of sounding with cymbals of brass they took on the role of todays bassists or drummers whereby, they led and set the course of the rhythm for the other musicians.

I Chronicles 15:20 And Zechariah, and Aziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, and Eliab, and Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with psalteries on Alamoth;   —>   As Heman, Asaph and Ehtan were appointed to sound with the cymbals, these men in this versewho most are the same from verse v15:18 abovewere appointed to sound with the psaltries, which was a stringed instrument.

Alamoth=This word sadly, has many scholars scratching their heads as to its meaning but, it really isnt that difficult to figure out. First, we find it in several Sub and Post-scriptions throughout the Psalms, secondly, if those same scholars would equip themselves with a Strongs Concordance or Dr Bullingers Companion Bible, they would have instant access to its definition and meaning. When we research the word in the Strongs, we findand they would too if they used the proper tools when preparing to teach Fathers Wordthat it is Hebrew word number: H5961, - עֲלָמוֹת, - ‛ălâmôth, pronounced - al-aw-mothי, and means: Plural of H5959; properly girls; that is, the soprano or female voice, perhaps falsetto: - Alamoth. Total KJV occurrences: 2. From Dr. Bullingers Companion Bible we read: The maidens choir. (See Ap 65ii) One of three special choirs, the other two being Sheminith (a mens choir, see Ap 65xix); and Jeduthuns choir. Alamoth found only once as the subscript of Psalms 45. See note there. This choir was processional, not ecclesiastical. Compare Psalms 68:11,25, which refers to this event, not the exodus..

I Chronicles 15:21 And Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obededom, and Jeiel, and Azaziah, with harps on the Sheminith to excel.   —>   Sheminith=As we read from Dr. Bullingers note in the previous verse, sheminith was the mens choir. We can find this at the beginning of Psalms 6. The word actually means eight, and perhaps refers to the 8th octave or key.

To excel=In other words, to lead.

I Chronicles 15:22 And Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was for song: he instructed about the song, because he was skilful.   —>   Ill tell ya brethren, our KJV translators didnt do this verse or us any justice or favors in their translation of this verse. The first word we need to look at is the word song as, throughout Fathers Word, the Hebrew word number assigned to this word in this verse, it is the first time it is translated song. So, lets go and check out this word for ourselves. We find that it is Hebrew word number: H4853, - מַשָּׂא, - maśśâ', pronounced - mas-sawי, and means: From H5375; a burden; specifically tribute, or (abstractly) porterage; figuratively an utterance, chiefly a doom, especially singing; mental, desire: - burden, carry away, prophecy, X they set, song, tribute. Total KJV occurrences: 65.. So, though yes, it can mean song, however, up until this point in Fathers Word it carries the first meaning of burden. But, we also find that it means from the original prime root to carry. When we look or think of the word burden, we usually think of it in the mental sense, however, here, it is used in the physical sense and, with Chenaniah being a Kohathite Levite, it is my opinion that he was instructed and extremely knowledgeable in the movement and care of Fathers Most Holy Things, i.e., His Ark, and thus he was specifically chosen for this specific task of bringing up Fathers Ark out of the house of Obed-edom and into Jerusalem.

Chief=Prince or leader. Not by birth, but by merit. Its very possible that Chenaniah was the chief musician written of in many of the Psalms.

Was for song=Or, put differently, was for service, in other words, he was picked specifically for leading the Levites in this procession of bringing Fathers Ark to Jerusalem.

About the song=Dr. Bullinger notes in his Companion Bible that Three Psalms appointed: I Chronicles 16:7-36; Psalms 5 and 11; which, being suitable for general use, were afterwards handed over to the chief musician. See note on subscript at the end of Psalms 3..

I Chronicles 15:23 And Berechiah and Elkanah were doorkeepers for the ark.   —>   These doorkeepers were the porters of verse v15:18 above. We know this because they are both assigned the same Hebrew word number in the Strongs Concordance, Hebrew word number: H7778, Fathers Word also told us there that theyat least in Berechiahs casewere porters.

Are you paying attention brethren? What Im asking you is, are you noticing that Fathers Word is laying out the order of the procession for bringing His Ark up to Jerusalem, i.e., the musicians, then the porters or security forces, in either case, the Levites are leading this procession? Are you noticing also that each of these names have one of Fathers names\roles\titles i.e., EL or YAH in them?

I Chronicles 15:24 And Shebaniah, and Jehoshaphat, and Nethaneel, and Amasai, and Zechariah, and Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, did blow with the trumpets before the ark of God: and Obed-edom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark.   —>
Trumpets=This word trumpets is Hebrew word number: H2689, - חֲצֹצְרָה, - chătsôtserâh, pronounced - khats-o-tser-awי, and means: By reduplication from H2690; a trumpet (from its sundered or quavering note): - trumpet Total KJV occurrences: 29. Pastor Dennis of Shepherds Chapel notes that these were the silver trumpets, used since the time of Moses.

Again, I call to your attention brethren that, we saw from, or in verses v15:16-24 the order of the procession. First, we had the singers with their musical instruments, then we had Chenaniah, the chief, or captain of the Kohathites who carried Fathers Ark, followed by the security forces, then we had the trumpet blowers who were immediately before Fathers Ark, then the Ark Itself followed by more security forces. Now in the following verses, well see David, the elders of Israel, and the invited guests and such.

I Chronicles 15:25 So David, and the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the house of Obed-edom with joy.   —>
Elders=The word elders used here in this verse is put for, or used in place of, all the House of Israel. We know this because, we read in II Samuel 6:15 that ...David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet..

Notice also brethren, all the pomp, ceremony and circumstance going into this bringing up of Fathers Ark into Israels Capital City of Jerusalem? Its like, or as if, a king is entering into his city and in a sense, that IS exactly what is taking Place as, Father IS King over all and all things. He is The Most High God:ELYONfrom Dr. Bullingers Companion Bible Appendices: ELYON.

Ark of the Covenant=Again, as I pointed out in verse v15:1 above, note all the different titles used of Fathers Ark in His Word, especially in these Books of the Chronicles: Its The Ark fifteen times, The Ark of God twelve times, The Ark of the LORD four times, The Ark of the Covenant of the LORD eleven times, The Ark of the covenant of God once, The Ark of Thy strength once, The holy Ark once, and The Ark of our God once, for a total of forty-six uses.

I Chronicles 15:26 And it came to pass, when God helped the Levites that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, that they offered seven bullocks and seven rams.   —>   Helped=
In other words, with Fathers favor as; now there was no err in the bearing His Ark as there had been back in I Chronicles 13. Not only were they in His favor but, He also helped them by surrounding and protecting them; which is exactly what He desires to do for each of His Children who Honor, Serve and Worship Him in the way in which He wants us to Love Him.

They offered=Because Father helped them, they offered sacrifices to Himzâbach in the Hebrew tongue, Hebrew word number: H2076, from Dr. Bullingers Companion Bible Appendices: Appendix 43 I. 4.II Samuel 6:13 is complementary, not contradictory.

I Chronicles 15:27 And David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites that bare the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the master of the song with the singers: David also had upon him an ephod of linen.   —>
Robe of fine linen...ephod of linen=David is wearing a linen robe, not his kingly attire, nor his battle armorwhich one could easily also assume he might have wore while moving Fathers Ark out in the openin other words, he is humbling himself before Father during this auspicious occasion. This linen ephod is not as the Ephod the High Priest would wear, which Father described to Moses how to make in Exodus 28. This one is most likely plain white, and for comfort only, not for ceremony.

I Chronicles 15:28 Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps.   —>   There was very much joyous shouting, commotion, leaping and dancing as Fathers Ark was coming home. The Ark of Father YHVHand Father Himselfis finallyafter approximately 89 yearsgoing to be back with the People of Israel in their capital city. All this commotion Im sure was done in order to show Father how pleased they were to have His Ark back in their midst but, I think they also whooped it up this much to show the nations around them that He was back with Israel.

Cornet=Check this word out in your Strongs Concordance brethren, if you thought that the word trumpets should have been the shofar and were confused it was not, well, here it is, we find that it is Hebrew word number: H7782, - שׁוֹפָר or שֹׁפָר, - shôphâr or shôphâr, pronounced – sho-farי or sho-farי, and means: From H8231 in the original sense of incising; a cornet (as giving a clear sound) or curved horn: - cornet, trumpet. Total KJV occurrences: 72..

I Chronicles 15:29 And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of the LORD came to the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looking out at a window saw king David dancing and playing: and she despised him in her heart.   —>   The daughter of Saul=Notice she is not identified as Davids wife which is who she was; heck, shes not even identified as Phaltiels wife, who she became after Saul put David on the run, and then gave her away to Phaltiel; but, she is identified as Sauls daughter now, some people might find this curious but, I dont as, I want to bring in here what I wrote back in II Samuel 6:16: The last we read of Michalsave for when David told Abner that before they meet, she be returned, and then telling Ish-bosheth to return herwas when she assisted David escape her father; however, that youthful love that she once had for David is now long gone. I assume that after she became the wife of Phaltiel, the son of Laish, and had children by him, she decided he was going to be her husband till she died. Remember, David had earned the right to marry Michal, he slew Goliath, but, even then it he first had to meet Sauls dowry of 100 Philistine foreskins, which Saul thought hed never be to pay. Michalstolen away from David while he was on the runfinally got his wife back; though, it appears he only got the body or the shell; as, he did not get the devoted wife when she came back to him. Michal, being the daughter of the king, and also the wife of such, must have gotten used to being royalty. I cannot say; as, Fathers Word doesnt say, concerning Phaltiel; but, by her strong negative reaction at seeing David out there in his robe, dancing and praising Father like nobodys business, she felt it was a disgrace to David, his high position and even her being his wife the Queen, and she despised him for it. She knows her father would never have lowered himself to this position, and seeing her husband do so only makes her feelings for him evaporate..
