How To

Judges 15

We continue now with the strife between Samson and the Philistines. At the end of the last Chapter, Judges 14, Samson had returned to the young woman's hometown of Timnath to get his bride-to-be, however, her father had given her to his - Samson's supposed "best man," to wife.  Samson was none too pleased to find this tidbit of news out. What will he do about it? we're about to find out, Judges 15:

15:1-19 SLAUGHTER, IN LIFE (Division)
-8 First Slaughter (Alteration)
15:1-2 Wife Refused

Judges 15:1 But it came to pass within a while after, in the time of wheat harvest, that Samson visited his wife with a kid; and he said, "I will go in to my wife into the chamber." But her father would not suffer him to go in.   ->   After the time of the wheat harvest--Samson's cooling down time over his anger towards his bride-to-be and her family--he returns to Timnath seeking his bride-to-be in order that they may now consummate their marriage. He is returning with a present for his bride-to-be and that present is a kid of goat. Sadly for Samson--though all part of Father's plan to continue this strife between Samson and the Philistines--he will not be able to consummate their marriage as she has already been given to another man. So as he is about enter into her bed chamber, her father stops Samson and does not allow him to enter in as she is no longer his wife.

Judges 15:2 And her father said, "I verily thought that thou hadst utterly hated her; therefore I gave her to thy companion: is not her younger sister fairer than she? take her, I pray thee, instead of her."   ->   The woman's father lies and tells Samson that he thought that since she had provided the answer to the riddle to the Philistines, that Samson hated her for her betrayal, therefore he gave her to Samson's best man. For those that think Father isn't involved in our lives or that He is not in control of all things, in these verses where they are wrong as father's hand and divine intervention is all over these incidents and happenings.

Father is using Samson's quick temper and the mighty strength He had given Samson as the army that will bring down the philistine stronghold and the oppression they have over the Israelites. Remember, we read in Judges 13 that it was because of the Philistine oppression that Father was going to send one--Samson--to begin to deliver the Israelites out of the Philistines hands. This was the sole reason that Father gave Samson to Manoah and his wife, Samson was a miracle child born to a woman barren in her old age.

Notice though that the father at least offers up his younger daughter for Samson to marry. This is sort of unique in that we read back in Genesis of a father who had also deceived a man of his bride-to-be--Jacob--and that time the man was to marry the younger daughter where he the father gives or offers the younger daughter.

15:3-5 Retribution. Burning.

Judges 15:3 And Samson said concerning them, "Now shall I be more blameless than the Philistines, though I do them a displeasure."   ->   Because of the events which have taken place: the betrayal by his wife-to-be in providing the answer to the riddle to the man; the deceit by the thirty young Philistine men in forcing his wife-to-be in giving them the answer to the riddle; and the giving of his wife-to-be to another man by her father, Samson is angry and tells the woman's father so. He also is telling him that he is about to go to war against the Philistines and cannot be held accountable for his actions because they - the Philistines have brought this upon themselves.

Judges 15:4 And Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took firebrands, and turned tail to tail, and put a firebrand in the midst between two tails.   ->   Foxes=two interesting things to note when we read the word foxes in Father's Word: (1) in the Book Song of Solomon, the word foxes is used symbolically to describe the kenites; and (2) the word as it is used here is in the Hebrew means jackal. Jackals travel in packs whereas foxes go it alone.

What this verse is saying is that Samson caught hundred fifty pair of jackals and tied their tails together with a torch secured within the knot, and he is about to set them on the Philistine's crops.

Judges 15:5 And when he had set the brands on fire, he let them go into the standing corn of the Philistines, and burnt up both the shocks, and also the standing corn, with the vineyards and olives.   ->   Keeping with the thought and analogy for a moment of the foxes meaning kenites, if you turn the kenites loose on any society or market, it won't take them long to completely take-over or destroy the society, and\or consume or drain all the wealth of the market enterprise.
On the other hand, what we are seeing within this verse is that
Samson along with these teams of Jackals with their tails tied together and the torches blazing on fire between them, are destroying all the crops and the livelihood of the Philistines. This is quite comical when you tie the analogy with what is happening in the verse together, and then relate it to what the Kenites are doing to our people's wealth today. The corn, vineyards and olives was the Philistine's crop - their economy and when you turn the Kenites lose on any nation, it won't be long before the Kenites will own the corn, the crops, the fields and your house before they let you alone.

15:6 Wife burnt.

Judges 15:6Then the Philistines said, "Who hath done this?" And they answered, "Samson, the son in law of the Timnite, because he had taken his wife, and given her to his companion." And the Philistines came up, and burnt her and her father with fire.   ->   Remember the threat to the young Philistine woman from the philistine young men in the last Chapter? They told her that if she didn't weasel the answer to the riddle out of Samson and tell it to them, they would burn and her family her to death and her father's house to the ground. Well the threat has come to pass anyway, her father gave her to another man--a Philistine man--we have no idea if she was willing or tried to reject this union, however, her father gave her away, and Samson in turn destroyed the town's livelihood and food supply. This verse and the Philistines' actions really gives us a grand perspective on just how oppressive the Philistines were toward the Israelites.

Father's plan is coming to together as Samson is coming against the Philistines and the Philistines are coming against father's deliverer of the Israelites.

15:7-8 Retribution. Slaughter.

Judges 15:7 And Samson said unto them, "Though ye have done this, yet will I be avenged of you, and after that I will cease."   ->   This=on this wise, in other words, Samson is saying, "because you have done this, I will continue to come against you and will not cease until I have been avenged for your burning my fiancee, her family and her families house.

15:8-19 SECOND SLAUGHTER (Alteration)
15:8-16 Expected Retaliation
Etam. Samson there

Judges 15:8And he smote them hip and thigh with a great slaughter: and he went down and dwelt in the top of the rock Etam.   ->   Smote them hip and thigh=this is a figure of speech meaning that Samson put a great hurting on the Philistines causing many to die.
In the end, Father will allow Samson to be blinded, using his blindness to kill many, many more philistines, fulfilling what was prophesied by the Angel of the LORD in Judges 13:5For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.   ->   He will all through his life "begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.

The message here which stands out most strongly as we read of Samson is that Father is in control of all things, He knows how to get the job done. Father had a plan for delivering the Israelites and at the same time, bringing down the Philistines, and likewise He also has a plan for our lives. When we allow father to have control our life, He will take charge and direct us in the direction that we can be used to fit into His plan. We get that direction when we Study His Word, and also use the common sense that He has given us.

Top of the rock Etam=hawk or other bird of prey ground, in other words, Samson went up into a mountainous region or the cliffs and stayed there of a while.

15:9 Philistines. Camp at Lehi

Judges 15:9Then the Philistines went up, and pitched in Judah, and spread themselves in Lehi.   ->   pitched=think of this as an encampment such as a military encampment because that is what the Philistines were doing, getting ready to have a military engagement against the Israelites.

Lehi=when we translate this word rather than transliterate it, it means jawbone. The name Lehi or jawbone was not yet at this time assigned to this place, but it will be shortly because of what is about to happen here.

15:10-13 Etam. Mission to Samson

Judges 15:10 And the men of Judah said, "Why are ye come up against us?" And they answered, "To bind Samson are we come up, to do to him as he hath done to us."   ->   Father has done a wonderful job of stirring up anger and dissension between Samson and the Philistines and they are now about to exact revenge against Israel and more they think, or more specifically, Samson because of what he has done to them.

Here we get a real good look at the state of mind of those who have been conquered and oppressed for sixty years. They were oppressed for those forty years prior to the birth of Samson, and then another twenty years into his manhood, and now these scared men of Judah have come to Samson with their hat in hand, and pleading to Samson, saying, "what are you doing to us man, don't you know that these Philistines have subdued us for these past sixty years, and you want to stir up trouble with them?" They also ask him, “just what is the gripe you have with these Philistines anyway?” Samson responds saying "I'm just going to do to them as they have done unto me." It’s too bad that there wasn't even one of the three thousand Israelites who had a back bone to make a stand with Samson against the Philistines.

This is the same thing that is happening in our country and around the world today. Father’s people run around like a bunch of pansies allowing the kenites and the ungodly to completely walk all over them - they stand back and do nothing about it, except complain just like these Israelites here in this verse. Even the church today, they allow these one verse preachers and their church systems to bind them into the service of the kenites and their traditions, and they are told that they must lay down and let every one run over them, and then they have to apologize for trouble that they have caused these heathen. The direction they take is not taken from Father's Word, for we are to take charge and stand firm when we are being wronged, not be a doormat for everybody to walk on. When you are in Father's Word and following His instruction, Father will give you the victory over all your enemies.

Can you see Father’s hand and the prophetic message within this verse? These men of Judah who came to Samson are nothing but a bunch of cowards who are afraid of their own shadow, and too weak to make a stand against these Philistines. We see in this verse that all of Israel, and especially those of the king line of the tribe of Judah have come whimpering to Samson, begging him to allow them to bind him and take him to their oppressors.

Judges 15:11Then three thousand men of Judah went to the top of the rock Etam, and said to Samson, "Knowest thou not that the Philistines are rulers over us? what is this that thou hast done unto us?" And he said unto them, "As they did unto me, so have I done unto them."   ->   Three thousand men of Judah=Sixty years of oppression can make anyone a little cowardly and this is what we're seeing here with the Tribe of Judah and the rest of the House of Israel, after all, three thousand men is the start of a good sized army.

These three thousand men went to the fissures in the cliffs to find Samson and demand of him, "you do realize that the Philistines have been oppressing us for the past sixty years, and you decide you want to put a stick in this beehive and stir it around some!" Samson replies that he is doing no more to the Philistines than they did to him. He is correct of course but what the Israelites do not yet realize is that Father is in the background working all this.

What is most surprising in this is that back in Genesis 49, when Jacob was passing out the Blessings, he told Judah that he would always be as a lion; he would always have his hand on his enemy's neck; his brethren would always praise him and bow before him. And here we are fast forwarded by several thousand years, completely forgotten about the Blessing and they have turned into cowards.

Judges 15:12 And they said unto him, "We are come down to bind thee, that we may deliver thee into the hand of the Philistines." And Samson said unto them, "Swear unto me, that ye will not fall upon me yourselves.   ->   The men of Judah are cowards when it comes to the Philistines, however, they're acting even more cowardly by what they are about to do, and that is; turning one of their own over to the enemy. Samson agrees to allow them to bind him and turn him over to the Philistines, but on the condition that the men of Judah after binding him, don't kill him their selves. The sad and pathetic part of this whole thing was that instead of joining with Samson to run the Philistine oppressors off, they instead have sided with the enemy against the very one fighting for their freedom. So we can see that father's army was Samson alone, and this is why we can say, Father and you make an army which is greater than your enemy.

With what is going on in our Country and around the world today, you should be able to see the similarity in this verse with what is taking place today for this is very reminiscent of a future event to these times and even for us today, but will come during our generation. Mark 13 tells us that Father's Elect too shall be turned over to the enemy - satan in his role as instead of jesus. The point of degradation which is coming on the Christian people of our land today; when we see the things which are happening in our government; our schools, our courtrooms and even in our homes, Father is being systematically removed from all parts of our lives, and just like these soft-bellied men of Judah; Christians too are sitting back and doing nothing about it. Our enemy, satan’s children--The kenites--are doing today what the Philistines did to the Israelites five thousand years ago, all because the Christians today don't even know who our enemy is. They’re being herded like cattle into the corals or “church houses” which are controlled by the kenites through the “world counsel of churches” and they’re rounded up for the slaughter at the coming of the kenites father - satan. Most Christian people are too biblically ignorant to see what is happening, Jesus warned us this would come to pass and take place Mark 13:9-12: Mark 13:9 But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for My sake, for a testimony against them. -> What is going to happen? Father's Elect will be delivered up to councils and satan's synagogues for His names sake. Fear not, for this is our purpose, to take this stand for Father as we'll see in the next two verses, also, Father will take care of us, go back and read Daniel 3 (Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego).

Do you know that if Father has given you the truth in His word (opened your spiritual eyes and ears) and you speak that truth, you go against the majority of what the churches teach today, and for this they will deliver you up to their councils so that they can grill you over what you teach? They (the churches and councils of today) teach what has been taught and passed down from the time before the captivity of Israel by the Babylonians. When they came out of that captivity, as Ezra and Nehemiah were taking a census of who was who, they found that the priesthood didn't even contain one true Levite because the priesthood had been completely taken over by the nethinims (those given to service) as can be read in Ezra 8:15. So therefore, the traditions of man based upon the law (as the pharisees and sadducees wanted it to be) was being taught by false teachers/preachers. Oh sure after this census, Ezra and Nehemiah restored the priesthood to the Levites but (1) they were still teaching the traditions of man; and (2) how long do you think the true Levites stayed in control of the priesthood? Like before, they became lazy and again allowed nethinims to take over and that is who was in charge of the priesthood during Jesus' time. He identified them and pointed them out for who they were in John 8 and many other places.

Don't forget also, this will be during the time of the tribulation and satan (in his role as "instead of christ") and his angels will be here and some (YHVH'S Elect) will have to be delivered up before him and his councils, remember he is pretending to be Christ and what Father has given you presently that you speak now, satan, as christ, will be telling you and all the world that you are lying because you'll be saying he is satan, not Christ, and he'll be saying look at me I am Christ. But again, as Jesus is telling us here in this and the next two verses, don't even think of what you'll reply, because YHVH will provide His answer through His Holy Spirit. Mark 13:10 And the gospel must first be published among all nations. -> Many churches and Christians think they have to have missionaries and go on missions because of this verse. But the reality is that The Gospel (Father's Word, His True Word) will be published when His elect are delivered up as these three verses here tell us about. What is Father's Holy Spirit going to be saying? Several things, one will be the true gospel (exposing satan and his children {those who crucified Him} for who they truly are,) which the two churches (Smyrna and Philadelphia {the only two with which Christ was/is pleased with}) in Revelation 2:9 and 3:9 were teaching, this is important because this is what the people must come to know and that is why it will be made public among all nations.

Let's find out what they were teaching: Revelation 2:8 And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; 'These things saith the First and the Last, Which was dead and is alive; [9] I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty (but thou art rich), and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are of the synagogue of Satan. Again in Revelation 3:7And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; ' These things saith He That is Holy, He That is True, He That hath the key of David, He That openeth, and no man shutteth, and shutteth, and no man openeth; [8] I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept My Word, and hast not denied My name. [9] Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, but do lie; behold, I will make them come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee. -> This key of David is important because it is what opens your mind to the truth in Father's Word and when that truth is opened and revealed by Jesus, no man will be able to seal it back up, it also exposes the mind to what really took place in the garden of Eden between satan and Eve. Satan (the tree of knowledge of good and evil and NOT a snake) wholly (mind and body) seduced Eve into laying with him in order to try and interrupt the seed-line through which He, (Immanuel -- God with us) Jesus, would come in the flesh. If satan could interrupt that seed-line, he could have defeated YHVH. It was his offspring with Eve many years later which crucified Jesus not the Jews (Judah, Hebrews) as is still taught today. It was his offspring with Eve which took over the scribing of Father's Word to try and change it as can be read in I Chronicles 2:55, it was also his offspring which took over the priesthood while the Israelites were in captivity to the Babylonians and were found out in Ezra 8:15. The other thing that Father's Holy Spirit will be saying through His elect and must be published among all nations is what comes in the next verse. Mark 13:11 But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Spirit. -> Rejoice!!! Here our purpose is clearly defined. To make that stand (as we are delivered up as verse 9 tells us) against satan and his angels (and yes this will be published among all nations as verse 10 tells us) and allow Father's Holy Spirit to speak through us.

What will the Holy Spirit of YHVH be speaking through our mouths? This can be read in Acts 2:6-8 and Joel 2. We'll begin with our example in Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. [2:2] And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting [2:3] And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. -> Notice our word "cloven tongues" in this verse, this is word number G1266 in the Strong's Diamerizo (dee-am-er-id-zo) and means: From G1223 and G3307; to partition thoroughly (literally in distribution, figuratively in dissension): - cloven, divide, part. In other words through partitioning, it can, as we'll see in the next few verses, be understood by all within earshot. [2:4] And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. -> What happened here? YHVH's Holy Spirit entered into them and they began to speak that which Father wanted them to speak. What is tongues? In the Strong's it is Greek word G1100 Glossa (gloce-sah) and means: Of uncertain affinity; the tongue; by implication a language (specifically one naturally unacquired): - tongue. So tongues is a language (English, French, Spanish, German etc.) that is spoken by a person who attains that language without ever having studied that language. The word "utterance" here in this verse in the Strong's is Greek word number G669 apophtheggomai (ap-of-theng-om-ahee) and means: From G575 and G5350; to enunciate plainly, that is, declare: - say, speak forth, utterance. In other words, someone who is uttering in tongues is speaking plainly in a language that was naturally unacquired, not some unknown (only a language God and His angels speak). [2:5] And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, (these are those that are identified as such because of where they live and are not of the house {tribe} of Judah) devout men, out of every nation under heaven. [2:6] Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. See, that wasn't hard, it was rather self explanatory. [2:7] And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, "Behold, are not all these which speak Galileans? [2:8] And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? [2:9] Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and Judea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, [2:10] Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya, about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes. [2:11] Cretes, and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. So each of these of every nation heard the apostles speak in their own language even down to their own county and city in which they were born. It wasn't an unknown tongue and it wasn't babbling.

What exactly were they speaking? Let's continue listening to Peter right in the Book and Chapter we're in Acts 2:16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel: [2:17] 'And it shall come to pass in the last days,' saith God, 'I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: When did Peter say this would come to pass? In the last days. Well let me tell you, those days are upon us right now, we are in the final generation of this life in the flesh. [2:18] And on My servants and on My handmaidens I will pour out in those days of My Spirit: and they shall prophesy: [19] And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: Are you scared yet? You shouldn't be, unless you don't know Father [20] The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the LORD come: [21] And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be saved.' -> So just what was Joel meaning? Let's go there and find out.

Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: Come to pass after what? Joel was prophesying that in the final days, the last generation of this earth age, the alarm was to be sounded, the trumpet blown signifying the end was near and the Day of The LORD was nigh at hand. How would we know we are in those final days? Father set benchmarks, signs so that those of His would know. The sign that the final generation started was the establishing of Israel as a nation in 1948. How do we know that? First Jesus tells us in Matthew 24:32, Mark 13:28 and Luke 21:29 that we must learn the parable of the fig tree. What is the parable of the fig tree? That is the setting out of the two baskets of figs that can be read about in Jeremiah 24. Those baskets were set in 1948, signifying the start of the final generation. How long is a generation? Either 40, 70 or 120 years, but in reality, it can be any time in between those as well. So the alarm is being sounded and the trumpet blown, meaning Father's elect (sons and daughters) have started prophesying that the end is close at hand for we are 62 years into this final generation and time is getting short.

What are the two different figs in Jeremiah 24? Well first of all we have to remember who is in Jerusalem at this time and that is what this is about. The good figs are the three tribes of the house of Judah: Judah, Benjamin and part of the tribe of Levi. Why only three tribes? Because in I Kings 11, YHVH told Solomon that He was going to split and divide the twelve tribes of Israel when Solomon died. How were they split? Reuben, part of Levi, Zebulun, Issachar, Dan, Gad, Asher, Naphtali, Joseph (Manasseh and Ephraim) would continue to be called the "House of Israel" while Judah, part of Levi and Benjamin would now be known as the House of Judah. It is these three tribes which comprise Israel (the country) today mixed in with the naughty figs, who are the naughty figs? The naughty figs are the kenites, those that claim to be Jews but do lie and are of the synagogue of satan. It is those which mixed in with the House of Judah 400 years before Christ was born, after the numbering of by Ezra and Nehemiah and are there to this day. So many times in the New Testament when we read the word "Jews," the writer is really talking about someone that is identified as such because of the location from which they were born or where they were living.

The two houses, Israel and Judah, will not be brought back together until the LORD's Day, the first day of the millennium, as is recorded in Ezekiel 37. [2:29] And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out My Spirit. Do you see these signs Jesus said would come when He was asked by His disciples when shall these things be and what shall be the signs of His (second) coming in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21? Wars and rumors of wars, earthquakes in diverse places, apostasy (lack of Father's Word being taught chapter-by-chapter and verse-by-verse as prophesied in Amos 8:11) running rampant, morals being flushed down the toilet on a daily basis. Yes, we are there, make no mistake about it. Satan as the anti-christ and his locust army will be kicked out of heaven shortly, are you ready for that time? [2:30] And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. What are all these, are they cause for concern? No, so don't allow the hell-fire and brimstone pastors to deceive you into believing satan is going to destroy this earth with blood up to the horse's bridles. Remember, satan wants people to worship him and for them to believe that he is christ, he'll be coming in saying "peace, peace." Also, Father is not going to allow His earth to be destroyed by nuclear holocaust, Christ is coming here to establish His kingdom and He will not be coming to a place that is void and desolate.

When He does come though, all the evil elements, shall be burned up as Peter says in II Peter 3:10 But the day of the LORD will come as a thief in the night, in the which the heavens shall pass away with great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. What will actually take place on that day, the day He returns? The elements that shall be burned up are not the elements that make up this earth; rather, we again must look at our word "elements" as used here. In the Greek in the Strong's it is word number G4747 Stoicheion (stoy-khi'-on) and means: Neuter of a presumed derivative of the base of G4748; something orderly in arrangement, that is, (by implication) a serial (basal, fundamental, initial) constituent (literally), proposition (figuratively): element, principle, rudiment. In other words, all the evil things that are on this earth will be destroyed, not the elements and/or the earth itself, just all the things that cause offense, the things that Father will not allow to pollute His coming kingdom. [2:31] The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come. Prior to Jesus' return, satan will loose all the evil spirits that are being held in the bottomless pit and when they are loosed, yeah, the sun will appear to be darkened and the moon into blood.

Now think about this for a moment, the brightness of Christ's coming will cause the sun to appear to be dark and at His coming we all change back into our spiritual bodies. So now, put away your fleshly thinking and don't be afraid which is the reason so many Christians want to fly away in their rapture, they just cannot get past thinking in the flesh and have this fear ingrained into them. Mark 13:12 Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death. This almost sounds scary, doesn't it? Well, again there is no need to be afraid because one of satan's names is death as can be read in Hebrews 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same; that through death He might destroy him that had power of death, that is, the devil. So what is verse 12 in Mark 13 really saying and talking about? When satan comes as anti-christ, he will be so convincing as Christ to those not sealed with the Key of David that they will believe that he is Christ and tell satan (death) and his children that those that are sealed are non-believers and will be pleading with satan (death) to save their family members. Again, Jesus is telling us and forewarning us so there is no need to be afraid. Mark 13:13 And ye shall be hated by all men for My name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. Now we can finish the last verse from what Joel was declaring in Joel 2:32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call upon the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call. Notice it Joel says the "and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call." It is these remnant, YHVH'S Elect, those with the Key of David that shall be hated by all men for Christ's name's sake and will endure unto the end.

Let's return now to Judges 15.

Judges 15:13 And they spake unto him, saying, "No; but we will bind thee fast, and deliver thee into their hand: but surely we will not kill thee." And they bound him with two new cords, and brought him up from the rock.   ->   The men of Judah agree that they will not kill Samson, only bind him and turn him over to the Philistines, so that they can kill him - nice guys our brother Judah.

Betrayed by his own, again very reminiscent of that future event when our LORD - Jesus Christ will be betrayed by His own, and in that event our brother Judah got the blame also.

15:14-16 Philistines. Slaughter at Lehi

Judges 15:14And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands.   ->   Lehi=remember, this name means - jawbone for what is about to take place here.

The Philistines shouted against him=shouted for joy that their enemy was bound and being delivered into their hands, their joy as we'll see, will be for only a short time though. This shouting also reminds me of when Jesus was hung and dieing on the cross, the chief priest along with the scribes, elders and kenites stood at His feet shouting, mocking and deriding Him also, saying, 'He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, and if He be Christ, the chosen of God; let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.” They would no more of believed Him if He would have come off that cross than people believe on Him today.

The spirit of the LORD came upon him=the Spirit brings the ability to prophesy, strength and courage beyond that which is normal in a human being, and wisdom also. Certainly all three of these traits are in this one named Samson.

The cords and bands were loosed from off his hands=His hands are free; it's time for the Philistines to get scared. This too reminds me of many church systems today as they too try and spiritually bind their people with their false doctrines and traditions, if you're in one of these churches, Pray and ask Father to lead you to see if He wants you there--He may have plans for your being there for a while yet--or if He wants you out of there. Jesus taught us in John 8, "know the Truth, and the truth shall set you free."

Judges 15:15 And he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and slew a thousand men therewith.   ->   We learn now, why this place was called Lehi or Jawbone, because of Samson's slaying of a thousand Philistines at this place.

A new jawbone of an ass=in other words, one which was not dried out and brittle. One man--especially one with the strength of Samson--and Father make a majority, and here this one with father's Spirit upon him slays one thousand men.

Jawbone off an ass=one of the seven "weak things" in the Book of Judges: thus illustrating I Corinthians 1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; and II Corinthians And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.   ->   The seven "weak things" in this Book of Judges are: left hand in 3:21; ox goad in 3:31; a woman in 4:4; a nail in 4:21; a piece of millstone in 4:9, 53; pitcher and trumpet in 7:20; and here the jaw of an ass.

Judges 15:16 And Samson said, "With the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, with the jaw of an ass have I slain a thousand men."   ->   Heaps upon heaps=this is probably better translated "heap upon two heaps" and can be then said "I have piled them in a mass" or better put, two piles, part of the thousand in one pile in one location and part in another pile in another location; have I slain a thousand men=I have assailed assailants. Samson always had a way of making riddles of the things in his life and here was no different.

15:17 Meaning of place. Ramath-Lehi.

Judges 15:17And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking, that he cast away the jawbone out of his hand, and called that place Ramath-lehi.   ->   Ramath=means casting or lifting and Lehi means jawbone and this is what Samson just did - lifted up that jawbone of an ass and slew one thousand Philistines, this was his first attack on them, there will be more.

Compare what Samson used here to slay these one thousand Philistines to what we read back in verse ??? when we were discussing how father will utilize His Holy Spirit to come upon His Elect in the end times as they make that stand against satan and his army. What did Father used here—besides His Holy Spirit? The jawbone of an ass. When His Holy spirit comes upon his Elect when they are delivered up to satan, it will be their mouths--connected to a jawbone--that speaks what Father gives them to speak.

Likewise also, it was with the jawbone of an ass that He stopped and saved Balaam in Numbers 22, when he was going against what Father had told him, and he was going to go ahead with the princes of Moab.

It is time to ask yourself how this story of Samson relates to us today. Father provided Samson the jawbone of an ass - a donkey, to win His victories, and though we sometimes feel inadequate in presenting God's Word, all Father needs is our willingness to stand and allow ourselves to be used by Him when the time comes to slay the enemy. The ass was dead and gone; however, his jawbone was still very fresh and strong in the hands of Samson and under the direction of the Holy Spirit of almighty God. As we have already read in Mark 13:11, in the days which are fast coming upon us, Father doesn't need or will he use an army, He just needs one person at a time who is willing to be used by Him to provide that jawbone. It is Father that will give you the supernatural ability to face the enemy, and it is Father’s Holy Spirit which will place the words that you speak in your mouth.

15:18-19 Expected retaliation

Judges 15:18 And he was sore athirst, and called on the LORD, and said, "Thou hast given this great deliverance into the hand of thy servant: and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?"   ->   Samson is providing us a wonderful example here; he is in need and what does he do? he first thanks Father for what He has provided--Thou hast given this great deliverance into the hand of thy servant--then he calls out to Father and asks for the need to be met to further Father's plans. in the New Testament, Jesus tells us that we too can ask and it shall be given us, however many take this to mean that we can ask for whatever we want and should expect Father to give to us, but that doesn't meet the condition which Jesus set before us - whatever we need to fulfill Father's plan - it is that which He will provide for us.

15:19 Meaning of place En-hakkore.

Judges 15:19But God clave an hollow place that was in the jaw, and there came water thereout; and when he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived: wherefore he called the name thereof Enhakkore, which is in Lehi unto this day.   ->  God=ELOHIM here and not YHVH and His name will not change back to YHVH--covenant God--until Samson humbles himself in Chapter Judges 16:20.

Father did not leave Samson in his time of need and thirst, just as He will not leave us either, in our time of need. "God will never leave thee nor forsake thee" especially when we are in a time of need. It is real surprising what man's spirit can and will do once it is reinforced by Father's Spirit. You can almost totally destroy a man, but when he calls on father, he becomes a force again. The very same jawbone Samson used to do his fighting of the Philistines with is the same where the well of water came from to reinforce his spirit. In the Book of John in the New Testament; Jesus said to the woman at the well: John 4:6 Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.   ->   There=being Samaria, and Jesus had just come from Judaea and was on His way to Sychar, stopping ere in Samaria for the specific purpose of seeing this woman whom He is about to meet. [4:7]There cometh woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.   ->   At this time the Samarians and the “Jews” did not associate with each other and also at this time, men did not speak with a woman they did not know. So for the woman, Jesus’ speaking to her was very out of character and unexpected. [4:8] (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)   ->    Jesus’ disciples were making this journey with Him however, they temporarily left Him to go and buy something to eat, leaving Him alone at the well of Jacob. [4:9]Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.   ->   Of course they didn't, because the Samaritans were a mixture of five different peoples from Babylon, and remember, Babylon conquered and captured the House of Judah many centuries prior to this and moved into this land which was Judah’s. However, like I said; Jesus is here specifically to see this woman whom he will use to spread the Gospel to the Samaritans [4:10]Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.   ->   As was His nature and He was always doing, Jesus was teaching here, and His words were very surprising to this woman. The Prophet Isaiah wrote of this well of Salvation that Jesus is speaking of in Isaiah 12; Isaiah 12:1 And in that day thou shalt say, "O Lord, I will praise Thee: though Thou wast angry with me, Thine anger is turned away, and Thou comfortedst me. [12:2] Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for The Lord YHVH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. [12:3] Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.   ->   Jesus is the well of salvation. That is what Jesus’ name means - "YHVH's savior." [12:4] And in that day shall ye say, "Praise the Lord, call upon His name, declare His doings among the people, make mention that His name is exalted. [12:5] Sing unto the Lord; for He hath done excellent things: this is know in all the earth.   ->   Jesus came to spread His salvation not only to those of Jerusalem, but to all the earth; to all His children who will listen, repent and believe upon His Name. So what is taking place here, is Jesus’ offering this woman of Samaria His living water of Salvation, if she will but ask. Just as the physical water comes from this well of Jacob, so also does the living spiritual water come from the spiritual well that is Jesus Christ. The subject in this chapter here, is that Christ is the well that the living water of salvation comes from. John 4:11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?   ->   She doesn’t comprehend yet what Jesus is saying, and offering her. [4:12] Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?   ->   This Samaritan woman is a gentile and not of Jacob’s seedline however, she knows because of the name of the place, that Jacob had dug this well many centuries previous, and through the centuries many peoples have watered themselves and their cattle, even these Samaritans. For them this well is their life blood, for without it they wouldn’t have survived. [4:13]Jesus answered and said unto her, "Who drinketh of this water shall thirst again: [4:14]But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.   ->   Jesus is the fount of Living Waters for eternal life; as He declares in this same Book of John, "I am the way the truth, and the life, no man cometh to the Father, but by Me."

Enhakkore=fountain of one calling or fount of the caller, which is to say, the law of them that call upon His name. God's Will was done when Samson slew these one thousand Philistines however; this was just the beginning of the deliverance of Israel from the oppression of the Philistines. Father gave the victory through one man and not the army of the Israelites. Father's Will is also done when you call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ in repentance, and then by faith seek his Will.

Judges 15:20 And he judged Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years.   ->   Father gave Samson a great victory here at Ramath-Lehi, though He is not yet done with Samson or the Philistines. For twenty years after his victory over those one thousand Philistines, Samson Judged and was a good Judge over Israel. Samson is Judge however, the Philistines are still in power in the land and are still oppressing Israel, and that will never change during Samson’s life time.

In the next chapter, Judges 16, Samson is taken in by the wife he is famous for having - the Philistine harlot  named Delilah. You could say that Delilah was Samson’s downfall however, in reality he was his own downfall but still, in the end, Father will fulfill His Will through the strength of His army in Samson's strength. Father is still showing us through one event after another that He and as little as one person make up a majority.
